You can lick dez nutz.
i see some tv’s with a 600hz refresh rate; why is that so high compared to the normal 60-120hz? is this actually something different?
i was looking at picking up one tomorrow as well. possibly this:
I have 600hz on my 50 plasma and absolutely love it. I believe you can only get it that high in a plasma. Picture is amazing and have no complaints
Depends on the quality of an LCD…
It’s all personal preference to be honest… I calibrate all my tv’s to what they “should be” and i always tweak them to what I like… what looks good to one person may not to another… specifically flesh tones
pioneer plasma > everything in existance. i have a panasonic and love it but pioneer is moar bettars. i want one. cool story
I just picked up a cheap 32" 720p 60hz for the bedroo. Its a garbage brand but the Black Friday deal was mint. Compared to our other tv though I noticed that on certain cable channels my blacks look pixelated and have a gradient. It is hooked up to a timewarner cable digital box using their bigger 5 wire component wires only because the cable guy said for them it worked better than the HDMI output.
Is he BSing cause my other 37" doesnt have this issue but that is 1080p 60hz?
Settings are “Standard” 720p on the tv with the backlight all the way up and on the cable box it is set to 720p with the 4:3 aspect ration. Should i try 1080p through the cable box?
I noticed on the xbox360 which runs on hDMI the picture is clear and clean as day and I usually sit on the floor like 4 feet away to play that; while tv viewing is done for atleast 10 feet away in the bad
use the hdmi cable 4 sh0.
Werd, if you want real HD, you need to use HDMI cables. Only HDMI can deliver uncompressed digital data from your cable box to TV, same with any other devices to your TV. All other cables can only transmit compressed analog data.
What’s very funny is 99% of the people who think the 600hz refresh rate of plasma is so amazing, but I’m sure none of them bought the HDMI cables needed for the data transfer of that size in 1080p as they’re stupidly expensive unless you work at Best Buy or such where they mark them up multiple, multiple times. Not all HDMI cables are the same. For a 720p 60Hz, you’ll be fine with most stuff. I’m 99% sure TWC only maxes out at 1080i or 720p for their HD anyways, and I know at least the XB360 only outputs at a max of 60Hz.
i bought the plasma with the 600 refresh rate today. it was a hell of a lot cheaper than the LCDs with the same specs (42", 1080p and at least 120hz). for $550, I’m sure ill be satisfied.
For that price I’m sure you will be, I was just giving some knowledge on the subject of the HDMI cables. I’m just happy I was able to get my Monster’s at employee pricing at a major retailer.
I’ll plug in one of my HDMI cable to the cable box when i get home.
I have to fully disagree with you. HDMI cable quality difference is a myth created by companies like Monster. Don’t buy into it. A 0 is a 0 and a 1 is a 1 regardless of SNR… the only time it is a concern is when there are long runs and losses are high and when I say long I mean 100FT as the voltage drop is too high to carry the signal. On top of that, refresh rate has NOTHING to do with the cable, whether it be VGA/RGB or HDMI/DVI. As I’ve said before, 24fps is still 24fps regardless of your refresh rate ceiling. No device outputs in 600hz, but the panel refreshes at 600hz… it was just another number that they added to make numbers comparable between LCD and Plasma.
Basically what I’m saying is, it’s bullshit.
I will however agree that there are BETTER BUILT cables. This does not mean that they display a better picture (they don’t, it’s actually impossible.) but they will withstand more abuse.
In the case of component cables, they are analog so SNR does apply. If the cable is within an acceptable range, you will never tell the difference between it and HDMI.
i love lamp. :retardclap
word. i wasnt saying anything against what you said about cables; maybe it came off that way?
I have some cheap HDMI cable from ebay or something, from Ps3 to tv right now. I actually got a deal on Rocketfish HDMI cable, so I have yet to swap it, but Im curious to see if there is any difference going from a cheap 6ft cable, to a decent 3ft one. Im not thinking there will be a difference, but I will see for myself, as they are just sitting here anyways. lol
As with what J here said… That is completely FALSE, its some bullshit that has been done as marketing by companies such as monster to get people to pay ridiculous ammounts of money for cables and the quality not being any different. As J daniels said the only time “quality” is a concern is on long runs, and still the brand of the cable doesnt matter, its the size gauge wire that is used for the run.
A 4 dollar 6ft Ebay HDMI cable will work just as well as a 6ft monster cables thats ~50 bucks
If you want quality HDMI cables that are not ridiculously overpriced go to www.monoprice.com or if you want to support a small company here in the US based out of texas go to www.bluejeanscable.com
I got a 20 Gauge 40FT HDMI cable from them for 35 bucks… not a single issue with it… fucker is thick thou, was a pain right in the cock to run and keep hidden.
People who buy monster cable (or any overpriced POS) just want bragging rights… its just a my dick is bigger than yours thing.
It’s amazing to me what false Bullshit people will buy from marketing/retarded salesman or some guy who just seems to have “all nice shit” so he must know what hes talking about.
I’ll put money that says my Toshiba REAR PROJECTION HDTV (not dlp) would look better than mosts newer LCD TV’s simply because I spent a balls load of time calibrating the damn thing.
Ive got a 47" inch LCD that 1080p and 60hz. I don’t notice much of a difference unless we use the gold plated HDMI cable. Really overkill. My room mate has a 50inch samsung slim LED at his house in NYC. All i have to say is wow. Worth it.
I got my info from wiki, not Monster lol.
And the only reason I got the Monster cables are because I got the BB employee discount. $35 I think for the Monster 1000 8’ cables instead of $200 or something.
All I have to say is Sears is fucking awesome!
I ordered this for $550 at 11:34 AM yesterday.
I get an email last night that they are sold out of them. However, they offered me this for the same price in hopes I’m not upset:

America! Fuck yeah!
Nice dude.
LED LCD is nothing like LCD. You’re better off with that bad boy than anything else.
Not to mention you can connect it to the internet (you couldn’t connect the Panasonic), you have DLNA should you need it, and it weighs less.
