Was it dark? It’s a suicide note, of course it’s dark:rofl:
That and I loved how Ben Stiller’s character and his kids show up at the funeral in black running suits
Sherlock Holmes
8/10
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3
9/10
Old movie about a subway hijacking.
Starring a young Walter Matthau and a few other recognizable actors.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Never saw the whole thing until just last week. This is a great holiday movie. Very dark but still fun as you would expect from Tim Burton. I really enjoyed the music in it as well. I will definitely keep this one in mind for my kids to watch.
9.5/10
X-Men Origins Wolverine
I was a big fan of X-Men 1 and 2, but 3 felt a little lacking. This movie brings back some of the coolness from the original X-Men movies. It helps that this is the story of the best character in Marvel history. The action was good and I was interested in the story. It would have been nice to see more of Dead Pool, but oh well.
8/10
Inglorious Basterds
Very good dialog which is to be expected from Tarantino. Even in subtitled sections, the delivery of the actors’ lines in the foreign language set a great mood for how I was reading the lines. The scenes with Col. Landa were fantastic. The guy was very good at portraying a scary son of bitch. I thought it was hilarious that Mike Myers was in the movie as General Fenech. It took me a couple of minutes to realize it was him. Once I didn I couldn’t help but think he was going to break out into lines from Austin Powers.
Overall, it was a great movie and I am sure my rating will go up with subsequent viewings. They always do with Tarantino flicks.
8.5/10
Star Trek
I was never a fan of the original show, though I had seen it before so the references made sense to me. I was also never a fan of any of the previous movies, but clearly JJ Abrams has set a new standard for Star Trek and I think that it will become a less geeky thing now. (sorta). I really enjoyed the story and all the characters. The voice of Nero was strange because I was expecting something less normal sounding than what came out of his mouth. Other than that, I though it was great.
8.5/10
Push
Looked like it was going to be a cool movie. Had sort of an X-Men type vibe to it and felt very much like the movie Jumper which I enjoyed quite a bit. However, Push felt like it never really went anywhere. I was interrupted from finishing the movie about half way through and I didn’t feel compelled to keep watching. I did just so that I could see if anything else happened but the climax was limited. There were some cool visuals with powers that the Chris Evans character had, but it wasn’t as impressive as the previews made it look.
5.5/10
Hurt Locker
This movie was fantastic. I can’t put my finger on it, but I really really enjoyed it. The story had constant suspense which made the 2 hours fly by. This should make Jeremy Renner a sought after actor, because his performance was so good and believable. Basically it’s the story of a guy who is a US bomb diffuser in the middle east and his personal struggles. He seems to have little regard for his own life and attacks each situation with what people think is total disregard for safety. I love the way it was filmed and the level of suspense throughout.
10/10
Terminator Salvation
I’m a huge fan of the Terminator movies. Even the 3rd one wasn’t terrible in my book. This movie was much better than Rise of the Machines and took a much more serious approach. I though the performance from Sam Worthington was very good and I can see why he is becoming a very sought after actor these days. The only down side to the movie (and I hate to say it because I like him) was Christian Bale. I don’t know what it is with him and his rough voice whispering thing he does, but it annoys the piss out of me. I don’t know where he started this thing, but I wish he would stop. All in all, this was a cool movie with tons of action.
8/10
The Hangover
Like most people, I thought this movie was very funny. I loved Zack Gallafanakis (sp?) and his character. I laugh every time some one says “ra-tard” now.
9/10
Sherlock - 6/10 AT BEST. It reminded me so much of that fucking lame-o Will Smith remake of Wild Wild West. Ugh.
Avatar - 8.5/10 - Loved it. 3-D was tasty but it was a touch too long.
Just watched Julie & Julia with my girlfriend. It was cute, if nothing else. I laughed out loud once, when Meryl Streep said stiff cock. Kind of came out of nowhere. Amy Adams is a cute one too…
Cinderella Man - 9/10.
This is a fantastic based-on-true-events movie about the boxer James J Braddock (Russel Crowe). It takes place before and during the great depression and shows the amazing challenges Braddock went through to just to feed his family and become a legend of the ring. Crowe was just fantastic. His boxing coach was perfectly played by Paul Giamatti, another outstanding performance. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes movies, period.
Zombieland - 7/10:
Yet another zombie flick that ALMOST nailed it. As said before, a lot of good one-liners, a decent little story to follow, and zombies. While it was one of the best zombie films that i’ve seen in awhile, I’ve been convinced that the only way a zombie story could be told properly is in the form of an on-going series (think True Blood). I’m tired of zombie movies ending and there not really being any resolution.
Paranormal Activity - 7.5/10:
Finally a “scary” movie that doesn’t base it’s existence on explosive gore, blood, and guts. It was a fun movie to watch with my girlfriend as we just kinda tried to guess what was going to happen every time the camera switched to the bedroom. It was freaky, realistic (in that “paranormal” kind of way) and straight to the point. Claims of it being based on true events also add to the intensity of it. I love ghost stuff, so this really hit well with me.
Jennifer’s Body - 1/10:
It was just plain old crap.
District 9 - 7/10:
I really, REALLY, wanted to love this movie. It was definitely well done, the alien/human coexistence was played pretty well. I don’t know, I just had other expectations for this movie that it just wasn’t able to hit.
Family Guy, Something something something dark side - 6/10:
It was funny, it was family guy, yet it didn’t really hit that family guy curve. It’s pretty short, and worth watching for a few good laughs. That’s pretty much it: family guy + star wars.
Boondock Saints II - 8/10. Not really like the first one. It had weird funny one liners and shit. But I still loved the shit outta it. Especially the end. Shit, I loved the whole thing. God damn, I’d freak the shit out of Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus. I don’t care if they’re in their 40’s.
Let the right one in - 8/10
Basically a 12 year old vampire love story (as weird as it sounds). If you can get past the pretty cheap voice overs as it is a swedish movie, it’s a VERY good watch
Up In The Air - 7/10. Predictable story, but I loved all the travel-related parts, like comparing miles etc.
Watched Old Dogs with Robin Williams and John Travolta.
8.0/10
It was a solid lil comedy that kinda made you laugh throughout it. Wasn’t like hangover funny but just a nice comedy to relax to with the g/f.
Avatar - 9/10 - just go see it
shit dawn
Book of Eli-8/10 Really well done.Good action with a pretty good plot. The visuals are really well done.I liked this movie better then avatar, maybe since its more my style with the whole barren wasteland adventure.
thank god. i was hopeing someone that seen the sneak preview was gunna comment. i cant wait to see this
The newish remake of friday the 13th… thought it was ok… not really a horror flix fan… but id give it a 6/10
9000 countries huh?..thats a lot of countries.
Avatar-10/10…just go see it.
action scenes get a 9.5/10
drawn out scenes that take up 80% of the movie get a 1/10 and only reason it got a 1 is because of the subtle racism in the bar with king kong
The Blind Side. i give it a 9/10. I actually think it was worth my $40 outting at the movies for once.
Step Brothers. 9/10. fucking hilarious! if it had titties and explosions it would be the ultimate movie.
