The longest clutch job in history...

…is now done. :wiggle:

With the (big) help from Nate (smurf6x6), got the tranny in over the
weekend and took it for a spin this afternoon.
Also spd-dmn and Alex for their help. Thanks guys.

Quite the experience, but I’m happy to see my car driving again.

Car is uninsured so it’s gonna be a while before I can rack up some
break-in mileage.

Couple questions/concerns:

  1. I had little more the 3/4 tank of gas sitting in the car since about late
November 04. Is there anything to be concerned about? Car had been in
    garage the whole time.

  2. Clutch feels a little softer then before. I think I’ll bleed it some more.
It’s also grabbing a little before the 1/2 release point on the pedal.
Other then that it drives fine and I haven’t felt anything unusual in the
little short drives I did (nothing over 40km/h - 3rd gear max).

(NOTE: I don’t plan or intend to adjust the clutch cables so you can save
yourself the trouble from mentioning that).

Now it’s just a matter of time to see if everything I did was good and
nothing is missing/overlooked. :noes:

Just thought I’d share the (pathetic) good news.

what cable? the adjuster screw under the pedal is for your master cylinder, that controls at what point in pedal travel the clutch will engage. so if you dont like how it engages now play with that screw.

Yea that’s what Im thinking. Perhaps I’ll wait till after the break in period
to see how the clutch reacts then.

In the mean time, I guess I’ll just get used to how it is now.

Congrats and good job! I’d really like to see pics of your flywheel after the second resurface. Oh yeah, don’t worry adjusting the clutch is easy as cutting banana cream pie.

I thought I posted the 2nd pics. Anywho they look just like the other
ones minus the uneven step.

Here’s the pic again:
