When my stepdad got his new dakota sxt V6, he had a bad noise start about 1 week after buying it. Dealer said it was a bad lifter and pulled the motor apart and replaced. It solved nothing, they later identified it as something with one of the pullyes/accessories on the motor that was making the sound. Just a thought, thats all.
