Shift518 was made for a newpaper, it blew up into something not so much about a newspaper but just as a forum for the local scene. That’s it, quit making it into something more than it is, the people here act this way, there are technical sections, if there’s a legit thread where the OP is trying to keep it on track I’ll clean it up, but who gives a fuck if a thread gets off topic, usually it goes off topic because the original question has already been answered.

I understand that even I have made threads go off topic. The point is that it needs to be cleaned up. Almost every thread on here does that, it doesn’t matter who the original poster is. There are now more members, and more bullshit. Sifting through threads trying to find content worth reading is getting harder and harder every day. It’s to the point that I don’t have time to read all of the bullshit, so I don’t bother reading it at all.

you guys care more about keeping travis around so you can make 12 page long threads about his past failures, then you do about trying to actually go out and make this scene better which is what the origonal goal was of shift

Okay I will say this.
I agree, some of the shit deffinatly needs to be cleaned up, sometimes all there is, is just nonsense in a thread that doesnt warrant it. At the same time I look at Rspeed, which I do like and I joined due to a few members MikeyB and you brew. I check Rspeed everyday and it seems like theres only a few new posts a day, its to quiet of a forum for most people. Not only is places like Shift,Rspeed, NYSpeed supposed to cater to car related questions but its a places to talk to people in the off season. Other than from the Lot, racing, aquantinces etc… I hardly know some of the people on here other than from the scene, and sometimes its better that way :lol . Yes theres a time and place for this and that and the other thing. For the most part though everyone on here will help when they can.
The bullshit and drama is what makes the forum fun, if it wasnt for that, there would be one new post a day about a car related question. The fact is no matter how much some of you may hate that the forum isnt the most on topic relavant thing in the world. Everyone on here when it comes down to it will answer your questions if you have one and most of the people on here respect one another…
No matter how much bullshit goes on in this forum, were all hear for one reason. We love cars and thats what the shits about.
I’m not saying I don’t/won’t clean up threads, and yes I agree there should be more mods, I know Vlad was going to make someone a mod not too long ago, but couldn’t tell you why that still hasn’t gone through, I clean up threads as I find them, I don’t go into every single thread every single day, if threads are blatently off topic I move them/split them simply so I can keep track of the drama of a good Failvis without having to guess the thread title :rofl
To be completely honest, this forum thrives off of the drama in these threads. Is that a good thing? Maybe, maybe not. Personally I find it fun to read some of the threads that are about usually complete BS, just to see what people have to say. But do I think the entire forum should be that way? No.
I think if we implement a rep system along with a seller/buying rating that rewards those for contributing positively and does the opposite for those who dont, we could solve some of the issue. As rep goes down so do your privledges. If you do something too many times then you get an automatic suspension for a given time period. That will make most people argue threads in either the offtopic/battlefield threads and hopefully end some of the BS in the other threads that we would like to stay clean…
