yeah, me too. started driving when gas was in the high $0.40/L range, which make these prices hurt

Oh I forgot it was 0.55 cents a litel for Premium when I started to drive.

Yeah! and even back then we were like “0.55 cents a liter!!! What the @#&% !!! That’s expensive!” Now we are like “1.15 per liter for Premium! Damn that’s cheap I better fill up!”

I think this hurricane thing was the perfect excuse to raise prices, personaly I don’t think gas will ever drop below 0.97/liter again.

Okay so who wants to start on a SR20DET hybrid project? It would be cool! An SR20DET with 85 horse power!..at the wheels!

Gasoline has one of the most inelastic demand curves of any commerical product, meaning that no matter what the price of gas is people will still buy it.

Oil companies know this

gas prices have been increasing steadily for a couple years now anyways but the rich white men who own them know that they could double the price and no one would stop buying the stuff. so why not do it?

the reason that gas prices were not this high before is because if gas prices were inflated by so much for no apparent reason there would be a little bit of an outcry.

If gas prices were inflated and justified by the war in iraq or some shit then there would be slightly more of an outcry because of peoples disapproval for that whole bunch of bullshit.

however, no one can protest the hurricane and the damage it causes. for that reason the oil companies incerase prices because they can and because no one will take action against them because they justify the increase with a horrible catastrophe.

if peoples protest the increase the response will be:

but we have to send support to the people in New Orleans

this statement is supposed to sound alot like the following:

its a meaningless statement that diverts the point to something relevant only under another subject altogether.

the looting IS going on, but it isnt even a surprise. if there was a jewelry store in your neighbourhood and no consequenses to your looting it then you probably would if you were poor.

i personally WOULD loot that store just because there would be no consequences and because it would be sorta fun.

but the whole looting and all this Kanye West says Bush hates black people is just a bunch of bullshit that the major news networks are focusing on because it diverts peoples attention to the fact that the cost of refinign oil has not increased, just the price and profits.

Oil companies have as diversified portfolios as the Bush family, intended comparison, and can easily push their weight around to contructively create what you see on TV.

all media is meant to create the emotions you feel about every situation and to blind you from other issues…

in short, gas prices will not go down because there is no reason to lower them if people will pay this price.

if the government reduces their taxes on gasoline (nearly 40%) then the gas companies will just raise it more to make even more money.

so either the government takes the $$$ and pretends to spend it on healthcare but realyl steals it to make more rich white men, or the rich white men who own the oil companies steal it to make themselves richer so that they can buy nice cars and make videos racing them around.

the only solution is terrorism, sorry.

If prices continue to be so high, it can have some serious consequence. Spending habits, consumer consumptions, real estate can seriously be affected from the high costs of gas, which in turn could really screw up our economy. It isnt just a simple matter of “ok, we are making a killing off gas now with the increase, so we’ll just keep it that way”. The government will put these factors into consideration, because there’s no use in making a killing off gas when everything else is going to go downhill. Just my 2 cents.

If gas continues to go up like this you will be watching the crash of the economy in no time.

If it continues like this this almost all of the gas related businesses (trucking heating everything like that) will go out of busineess people will loose jobs cutting spending on products with an ever rising price tag, then the people who work in the retail jobs get let go and then its just all down hill from there.

Last night there was a huge spike for no reason, in hamilton there were places for $2.15
