Tires (compounds)

I am currently looking at a few different tires.

Falken St115’s
pros- long life, sticky and relativly cheap
cons- 5 month wait
Falken ZE512’s
pros- cheap, long life
cons- not sticky
Hankook’s (fast tech’s cheap ones)
pros- even cheaper, hard
cons- How good are they.

Basicly i want life, price and stickyness all in one but if i had to put them in order i would

  1. price
  2. life
  3. stickyness

Help me decide or can anyone recomend any others.
oh and the sizes are 225.45r17 and 245.45r17. Definatly need a stiff sidewall cuz they will be a little streached

BOO for all of your choices on the Falken. I was gonna buy Hankooks but i heard bad reviews about them having weak sidewalls.

Treadwear will not matter shit on the back, you should look forward to 1 season for the back and posibly 3 for the front.

These are nice but wont meet your budget or life expectancy.

i don’t know who fast tech is and the model hankook you’re talking about, but the Hankook Z212 was rated car and driver #5 of the ten best max performance summer tires.

i’ve had a few max performance intermediate tires (FM901 and Ecsta MX) and they’re nowhere as good as a regular summer tire in the wet. the huge treadblocks dont sipe water away very well.

so it depends if they’re going to be on your daily driver or not and how much you really push it. out of those two falkens, i’d buy the ZE512.

What about the Nitto 555s?

5 month wait for falken st115s?

i got mine in 3 weeks, and this wasnt too long ago. (235-40-r15s)

want me to check ericksen’s suppliers for you?

You do realize that the ZE512 is a Performance ALL SEASON tire, right?
Its not a max/ultra summer performance tire.

I don’t know much about the others you mentioned so I don’t know if you’re making a fair apples to apples comparison or not.

Sure, I got the quote through transform spoliers (part of a group buy), so sticking with falken i can get a pretty good price.

I do realize the ZE512 is an al-season that is part of it being not grippy.

I am not concerned about grip in the wet to much as 9 and 10 inch rims are unless anyways.

The fk’s i have not looked at yet but the bf’s are another option open to me. (decent price through my work). I guess i am shopping around tomorrow

hey rob, our suppliers are saying 3-4 weeks

pm sent about prices

Rod the 512 are something i would put on a 4 door or somethings that only meant to cruise around. :E

I am using the Fuzion ZRI’s on my SIlvia and I think they are great for the price you pay. They are definatly a match for your requirements, I would seriously consider giving them a try.

Yea Rob, maybe you could keep up this year if you have the same tires as me.

if u want a supirior tread ultra cheap… then run FEDERAL SS595 trust me i was told by Tony Angelo him self from Drift Alliance…Kal tire carries them…
