I even chose to move from the burbs to the City. Full Time.
How does every thread turn into city vs. suburbs now? Come on, this one started with fggt Tom Brady, that’s quite the topic journey.
I for one will be glad to not have to see “Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk” anymore regardless if I agree or disagree with your posts.
Now that joke is public lol
I couldn’t keep it in anymore!
lol.
Anyway, there’s no point in a debate when both sides know they’re right.
In regards to education: yes there are many private schools in Buffalo. As well as charter schools. We also have the Olmsted program, Waterfront, etc. As far as high schools, we have City Honors, Hutch Tech, Da Vinci, Performing Arts, etc. The shitty numbers are for neighborhood schools, which are a problem that needs attention. However there are a number of elite schools in Buffalo you have to test into; meaning the kid won’t be held back by peers.
Housing is opinion. Personally, I prefer the historical architecture and density of one situation, others prefer another. C’est la vie.
As far as hotels, we have nice ones of those too.
and condos. and shitloads of projects in the works by people with money who are doing shit. past and present developers such as Seneca, Termini, Savarino, Karl Frizlen, (architect putting some projects together) and many more. It is my goal to some day join those ranks (BA in urban panning, minor in architecture, concentration on real estate development. Currently own a business in Buffalo, in process of buying a multi unit commercial/residential property). and I’m 26.
There are tons of people in the area who give a damn. things are happening all the time. check out www.buffaloah.com, a thorough touch upon some of Buffalo’s architecture. The site creator isn’t a web developer though, heh. content over format. He’s a retired english teacher (I had him for IB English at City Honors, a Buffalo Public School with full Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programs).
there is a wealth of architecture, cite the national trust for historic preservation’s conference here this year which was met with incredible feedback. Incredible architects and artists here too. that unassuming architect next to New York Pizza? (directly next door not the one two doors down, which also does incredible work). Brad’s shit is magazine worthy. he converted a warehouse to a loft/artspace for a friend’s parents across from Santasiero’s and it’s fucking breathtaking
It’s easy to find the bad in the area, but it’s also not that hard to find the good. Tons of initiatives, even groups our age. Pick up an artvoice. click Buffalo rising. Shit we live 1 hour from an incredible city (Toronto) yet I have a 1,700 sq ft apartment that, if I do say so myself, is baller as FUCK on Richmond Ave for only $695 a month (2 bdrm). With dishwasher, garbage disposal, hardwood floors, huge ceilings, natural woodwork, parking, etc.
One thing is for certain: we will never get anywhere if we keep putting the other down. I too am guilty of it, I found myself on the defense from many verbal attacks from suburbanites growing up. However I also have many friends from the burbs, some who have moved to the city others who have their own places in the burbs. Considering it only takes 15 minutes to get anywhere in this city, lets use eachothers shit. I don’t do nearly enough as I could be doing in terms of utilizing what this city has to offer, I need to break out of my comfort zone more often as well. Elmwood and Hertel have so much to offer I seldom expand beyond, but there are tons of gems in the greater buffalo area to be had. and tons of good people in the burbs as well
The beck standard has changed the past two years
Get with the program.

Aww thanks Justin.
I started slinging cars when I was 19. By the time I was 20 I was in upper management. Now, 5 years later I have two people above me. Sure, I worked more than 40 hours a week most of the time and sacrificed a lot, but it paid off. I for one am glad that I didn’t waste countless hours in school, because I acquired a set of skills and I ended up having my dream career for one of the best companies ever.
:gotme:
can i blow you beck?
That’ll cost you 0.001785… Becks. Or if you want to adjust for NYC vs Buffalo Bj inflation, 0.001142… Becks.
Have you ever had to ask before? I want to tongue punch your balloon knot.
I have also acquired a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.
Bad ass movie.

Dre I was going to edit your post so it didn’t show twice. But I liked it so much I decided to leave it. Well said(hopefully some of these guys doing oh so great can understand).
So beck you are saying you now make 1.x Becks? Or in this currency should we have the Beck not be a standard measure which can be adjusted to market conditions? My Beckonomics could need revamped.
Maybe if you could supply a quick powerpoint, bar graph, and some photographic evidence it would clear things up.
LOL flawless
Stuck driving Toyota’s = dream career?
stuck driving a neon = high school dropout?
:applaude:
Beck has the double advantage in life. Getting paid in 1.x becks and cost of living is .5 ILC’s being able to buy children’s clothes, and eating half as much.
To throw an oversimplified spin on everything most people are saying here:
It would appear to me that it is quite easy to “make it” in Buffalo. Where else can kids fresh out of a college system that left them with little to no debt, not only afford, but be subsidized in buying a home with up to four units, in a town that contains over 50% renters.
Im sorry, but if you aspire to be, and arent in that “prestigious” 1% of Bufflao by the time your 30-35, you either made some bad decisions or are just plain lazy/stupid. Then again, if you dont want to be here, thats another story. I however, rather be a big fish in a small pond than vice versa. One thing the limited scope of Buffalo has taught me is to REALLY appreciate travel. Maybe thats a warped view on it all, but I bet you we can appreciate travel more than most any NYC folk could.
Uh, making 150-200 is top 2%, because the 200+ crew is also making that, plus more.
if you make 75-99 you are in the top 12%
