Right. there is certainly a flip side. Just giving quick estimations, a mortgage on a 100k house in WNY might be $900/month, while a 120k loan in another state could also be $900/month. Thats 20 thousand more that would have been in your pocket, instead wasted on our ridiculous taxes.
Also, I think our health insurance i higher because of the high cancer rate in this area.

200k is still a pretty diesel income for a young couple, your future wife must do pretty well also to get into that bracket

My entire point was the same as Becks it seems like that percentage in the 150k-200k range would be way higher based on peoples homes/cars in Williamsville etc

It’s definitely not out of the realm of doable but the facts speak for themselves, it isn’t all that common. Be grateful for what you have.
For the most part he is right though, especially with the housing market being at a low right now. I wasn’t financially prepared to buy a house. The more I thought about, the more it made sense and I did it. I didn’t have to buy a house, but I would be crazy not to with the way the economy is right now.

It’s completely possible to get where you want if you work hard enough.
I have tried to explain this to people if actually have the drive to learn its completely possible to make a good living in Buffalo 50-90k a year relatively quick in IT…hell I have friends who are dealership mechanics who make a ton of money and started working their way up from changing oil.

I started detailing campers, now I am selling and I am the 4% for household income with my gf making $12k p/ year. I put my time and work in and I got to where I am in 4 years. It def can be done in Buffalo considering I make my income off people in Buffalo, there is def some money here, you just have to work a little harder to get it.
There are more successful people in Buffalo that don’t show it. Being wealthy and flaunting it in a poor city isn’t very smart. Being wealthy and flaunting it in a rich city is no big deal so long as there are wealthy people around you.
I specifically ask that my salary and raises be presented to me in measure of Becks. One standard beck is 70k as we all know. I would love a .15 Beck raise this year.
