Toyota FT-86 / Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S *NOW TURBO*

http://www.nyspeed.com/showthread.php?83201-New-Toyota-FT-86-Subaru-BRZ-Scion-FR-S&highlight=scion+frs

Why bitch it’s a cool platform and will be better when they release a turbo version

yeah, it’s so short-sighted to hate on this platform.

I’m with stupid

X…

I test drove one last week (the Scion) and I have to admit, this car is fantastic. It’s about as nimble as my miata, but has more bells and whistles. If I had to buy a new car next week, or even next year, I wouldn’t hesitate buying one of these.

Oh definitely, cool car, but the d-bag owners will butcher a lot of them and I hate them plenty no matter what they drive. Are they planning on a turbo model? I googled, but didn’t see anything in the aftermarket horizon yet.

Rumor mill in the Subaru forums indicate there will be a turbo version. Time will tell.

Did Toyota build all of it, or is a parts bin build from other platforms and such?

air cooled vw beetle

rear engine too

Who cares if the dude-bros, boy racers, etc, etc buy/mod/race these cars? It’ll be just like every other car that is popular to modify and race; there will be the owners that know what they are doing and there will be the owners that don’t.

And add the Genesis Coupe to the list of cars in the 4 cyl RWD market.

now drive a turbo 4 cyl genesis coupe if you can find one 2013 ONLY! Every local dealer is sold out i believe and the 2011-2012 were slow and gay unless you got the v6. But for 25k i would get the genesis with 275hp 4cyl turbo all day, and it has almost twice the warranty

The scion Frs and subaru brz are identical minus body tweaks, some suspension differences, and other minor stuff. The car was a joint venture between the 2 companies. It has a boxer motor.

I like the car, but a few thoughts:

its not really that cheap, base msrp is 24,995 and im sure destination isnt included

so for 25k you get a great driving car but definitely underpowered (25k isnt really that cheap imo anyway, a new camry is 22k…)

the turbo version will probably be 30k give or take… if it wasnt cheap before look out now

also ive seen a bunch of these, the base interior really sucks compared to the one with the upgraded seats ect. so even if I bought a non turbo one im sure i’d be up around 30k before tax

would much rather buy a loaded 5 yr old 335i for the same price personally

there is no base/upgrade interiors, they are all the same… thats scions motto

i have a 335i and have driven a fr-s, imo they are different cars meant for totally different things

More the opposite, it’s basically a Subaru…

5 year old 335 vs a new car with warranty

Hmm

I’m sure turbo won’t be that expensive hell a WRX is under 30 dont see why they couldn’t use that motor

Subaru Fanboi checking in to say when they drop the turbo model, ill be modding the shit out of it and jumping curbs quicker than you can say white rice.

Oh okay. Found some other info online poking around. Toyota and Subaru vs. all the other failed ventures… Ala Routan, the Isuzu Pilots, and so on. This should have a good following if it crosses directly over from current gen/future WRX engines.

And as far as the Hyundai mentioned earlier, if you’ve ever worked on or seen a Hyundai serviced, as far as I am concerned they don’t exist.

I saw one at West Herr Toyota the other day it was a pretty sharp looking car. Even the NA version seems like it could be a decent amount of fun.
