TPMS light, wrx

I threw on some winter wheels/tires on my 08 wrx, as with all 08 cars the wrx has a TPMS…but my new wheels don’t have sensors, so the light on the dash is on.
is there anyway I can get rid of this light and still run without sensors?
NASIOC isn’t much help…

Buy the sensors

Don’t you just have to reset it? There is a little remote for those TPMS.

resetting it won’t fix it. it needs to see the sensors in order for the light to stay off. without the sensors the light will be on.

you can’t “fake the sensors”

Yeah you are just going to have to deal.

I am about to be in the same position, but whatever some little lights isnt worth the $80 or so that 4 sensors would cost

why not get the sensors mounted in your winter wheels? i do that all the time at work. as long as the sensors mount properly, you have nothing to worry about

Toss the sensors in a PCV pipe, add compressor air. Profit.

not all TPMS run on pressure, some run on rotational differences between wheels.

just close your eyes and it will go away.

Figures that Subaru would find some way to fag things up. :banghead:

My case I have Summer wheels/tires, and a separate winter wheel/tire combo…I jsut really don’t care to spend the $$ for a light

I have a new civic and I read that if you do put another set on for the winter, the light will come on. Once summer rolls around and you put your stock rims back on, the light will turn off. Hopefully that is the case.

that’s a BMW thing…

Yeah, but I wanted to make fun of Subarus. Just go with it.

Deal…

Subaru’s suck

The subaru sensors operate on pressure. Unfortunately, they have to be spinning to send a signal, so the tube idea won’t work either.

They sort of pissed me off with their implimentation of TPMS…sensors are $130 from tire rack for all 4 corners, and the computer only remembers one set or sensors. So, to switch from one set of wheels to the other, you have to take it to the dealer and have them re-register the wheels every time you switch rims. At $30 a shot (VanBortel pricing…).

All this means for me is I’ll live with a light on my dash and save $130 + $60/year.

yeah, I check my tire pressures regularly, but as of 2008 ALL cars must have tire pressure sensors.
It’s annoying as fuck, I was wondering if there was maybe a wire I could cut or a fuse I could pull just for the light…

there has got to be a way to disable it. Or trick it into thinking the tire pressures are “good”

just deal with it… i am :stuck_out_tongue:
