i want to swap a 1.6l 4-cyclinder engine with a v6
i want to know what a good engine that would fit the stock transmisson
and fit in the stock motor mounts without cutting or altering body
plz help me!! has to be automatic
for one, i doubt ANY v6 motor would bolt onto the stock transmission, let alone the stock mounts. that would be a pretty big project imho
They used to put the 3.0 taurASS motors in those cars iwth a beefier automatic. The cars flew for the times.
I had a 86 tempo with a v6 swap…was a monster. Original motor was a 2.3

sounds like you need to get on some forums specific to that car (if there are any) and start doing research
we need a ‘swaps that will never happen’ subforum, there’s gotta be like a good 5 of these/week
Mabe a contour motor would be…but there is no way you are gonna be able to use stock mounts or the stock transmission.

First off … they never put SHO motors in Tracer/Freshcorts … it was the festiva and the called them SHOgun’s … Jay leno owns one
and you could order your Tempo with a V-6

tempos could have the vulcan 3.0L OHV motor, parents had one.
SHOguns were most definitely Festivas with 3.0L DOHC SHO engines, BDR5oh would get the cookie except Leno has two. 
put in the 1.8 b-series from the escort GTs, that’ll satisfy 3 of the 4 conditions. you won’t get a ford/mazda auto in there with any six banger without cutting all types of shit up.

ESCORT GTs FTW…but if u realllly want a v-6 seriously look into the MX-6 V-6…but there are plenty of parts available for Escort GT motors and its adirect swap since Tracer LTZs had the same motor in them a the Escort GTs teh Mazda B series motors
i had an 88 escort gt, that shit scooted. i’d own another for a dd anyday.
i had n 89 BEST CAR EVAR…but we didnt have the Mazda Motor…they didnt get then til 91 when they redesigned the car
That 1.8L engine is a good candidate for boost, too. Same motor as a Miata…
Miatas motors are a lil better…I forget y they are different…its minor things that make them different but i remember me and my brother searching about that since he has his Escort GT and Miata
fuel rail, intake and exhaust manis, alternator, oil pan, and some other smaller stuff. there’s a guy at work that has a beat '90 and sourced a low mile GT 'scort that was side hit. basically if you have a miata with a shot mill and a donor shortblock, you’ll only need to get gaskets and hoses.

are u saying the 90 he has is a Miata and sourced the 91-96 Escort GT motor…cause 90 Escort Gts still had the Ford 1.9 Liter
