im driving a 93 chrysler new yorker for the winter, and the tranny has been shiftin hard and downshifting hard, sometime taking alot of time to do so and having trouble with it. i know this is a common problem and its usually the throttle detent lever on the tranny getting sticky and usually you can just lube it up with some liquid wrench. well i get under the hood and there is only one lever, NOT two…no detent. im stumped, shouldnt there be one? i disconnected the battery to reset the computer to see if it might also be the shift points all f’d up so i guss we will have to see what happens. any thoughs?
minisrt4 told me that ericas dodge had tranny issues and it was the maf.
any SES lights?
Instead of spending money on fixing a beater, why not buy some steelies and break out the focus?
A chrysler with tranny problems, can’t be…
could be the converter is locking up. at problems in drive not moving? could veen be something as simple as a cloged tranny filter however i doubt it
no lights, no focus lol. gonna clean the MAF and have it looked at
maybe it’s all the 4k+ nutral drops you’ve been doing finally caught up to you … just kidding. GL with fixing your car Nick …
if you need a ride to school tomorrow, call me up and I’ll give ya a lift …
check the tranny lfuid also…you never know, but those trannys seem to have problems, ericas shifts reallly late, if at all, and my frend kate is on her 3rd tranny in her acclaim, my moms on her old 91 voyager(which was the same motor and tranny) went twice. dont be surprised nick, those trannys suck, but good news, THEYRE EVERYWHERE at m+m
yeah, when i got the car we thought the fluid was too low, so we added some, then it was too high, so we had to siphon some out, been checking it regularly i dont know WTF is wrong with this car
