Btw anybody looking at polls at this point of a Trump vs. Hillary etc, matchup clearly has no clue about the way reality works. Aside from numerous other factors, the two that stand out are 1) People are still hopeful their candidate will win the primaries so their polling results are skewed 2nd) the majority of the voters in the general election, especially this time around, are not represented in any shape or form by any of these polls. Last time I checked, most voters, especially those that will vote for people like Trump, are not sitting home by the telephone to answer a pollster, not to mention the huge amount of first time voters like me, or those that will come in from the independents or the opposite party.
I have a dislike of Trump, but anything to keep Hillary or Bernie (aka Soviet Union aka what I escaped from) out of the White House. My biggest beef with him is for someone who is supposed to represent the tough man, the man with brass balls, the deal maker etc. he sure does whine and cry a lot. The classic manly man will do the punch straight in the face without much talk.
Part of me thinks that Trump wants to stamp his legacy with being the best President ever. He tries to conquer and rise to the top at everything he does. This is just his latest challenge, albeit a huge one. I have no problem with that, and I’m baffled why some people can’t respect a guy who busts his ass to succeed. I don’t care how he talks, who he offends, or how big his ego is. I care about his results, and his incredible track record. I’m hopeful that he will use his brains to make our economy strong, and I have no doubt he will. For the guys that own businesses and the guys/gals that work hard every day, having insane amounts of work is a great problem to have. Way better than the alternative.
what I like about Trump, he takes ideas/issues from both the left and right. He’s not a complete right winger like Cruz, he’s pretty close to the center.
I don’t understand how Bernie expects to make college free… Uncle Barry couldn’t make health care free without nearly bankrupting the country so why does free college even enter the realm of possibilities in our current economic state?
Not Trump related, but the wife was invited to the town hall thing this morning with Chuck Todd and Ted Cruz. She posed what the MSNBC producers thought was an interesting question to Cruz, so they said c’mon in.
I argue with my gf a lot because she thinks free stuff is helpful, and higher minimum wages.
Also hates trump because he said woman should be pu ished for an abortion.(he was pressured in that town hall conference, but took back his statement an hour later).
I’m not taking any kind of stance here, but isn’t that how laws work? If you break them, you get punished. Assuming that did somehow become law of the land, punishment will come in one form or another.
From a girls point of view, they still feel its wrong. Since we are guys. We tend to forgot the emotional and traumatizing effects an aboration causes, even when it needs to happen for the health of the woman. So thats why these woman got all crazy hearing about being punished.
I guess thats my take on it.
He changed his stance to the doctor should be punished that performed the surgery.
It sucks that abortion is even a topic in government, just like gay marriage, assisted suicide, etc. I’d prefer the government to focus strictly on national security and figuring out how to get the fuck out of the economy. People get super riled up about the social issues like that but in fairness, they are all personal choices. If you don’t want to get gay married, have an abortion, etc, then just don’t do any of those things. Problem solved. That’s probably why I always just end up voting Libertarian.
Why is it that I can’t be a fiscal conservative that believes in a strong national defense without having to let some invisible man in the sky run my government and the private lives of the country’s citizens? This is my #1 problem with the Republican party. I ignore it because my problems with the Democratic party are far worse but I’d love to see a legitimate shift to Libertarian.
:bigtup: At the VERY most those should be handled at the state level, never federal. I’m sure everyone loved being told by Bloomberg that we can’t drink a 32oz soda because gov’t knows best.
Agreed. The Republican party will either adopt more of the policies of the Libertarian party or will go to the wayside and be replaced within our lifetime IMO. The Republican voting base is disappearing and people knee-jerk react to the social aspects of the party which crushes their ability to see through to the economic aspects of the country. That said, younger people love the concept of liberty whether they realize it or not in the context of freedom of social oppression and their only electable alternative right now is biased to be more socially acceptable but is slowly destroying our economic viability. I wouldn’t be shocked if a percentage (albeit not an overwhelming one) of Democrats switched party lines to Libertarianism if it were popular enough to have a running shot in an actual election. Since NYS is a throwaway vote that will go blue no matter what, I consistently vote Libertarian for that reason - solely to show on the stat sheet that potentially they may get enough votes to appear in debates at some point in the future. If they can show in debates and start to poach voters from either of the “big 2”, you’ll either see the “big 2” adopt their poli or start to see politicians bailing on party lines.
TL;DR: I’d love to be able to vote for security, economic liberty and social liberty all at the same time.
