lol well that’s essentially what these cars are…the Jap version of an F-Bod
This year i just wanna get it built right, and there’s so many things that are only easy to do with the motor out, so i’m doing it ALL now…next year will be suspension…
where did you get your HID’s from?
THATS IT!
That comment should get you banned in the official 300zx owners club.
:banghead:
I think its true though, just like the S13 is Japans fox mustang
Ok, in that case go ahead and make the argument / comparison for us.
I think you’ll be hard pressed to find anything remotely similar between an FBod and a Z.
T-Tops.
Touché
huh?
if you’re trying to compare an fbod to a foxbody by using a silvia to a 300z… it doesnt make sense at all sorry
2% free space to work on the engine in the engine bay
 andy
what are your projected power levels once its all said and done?
Rwd, heavy, easy to make a ton of power, mullets? Maybe… Lol i’m not saying the Z is in any way an f bod, just saying in the states they had f bods, in japan the z
we’ll see … :snky: it should be pretty hairy
Got NOTHING done today other than buying longer chains and using them to hook up the hoist to the engine…fucking ridiculous.
Realized that pulling the tranny is NOT a 1 man job…
Realized that there’s something weird about my power steering pump…or the instructions i have to remove it are completely wrong, because i removed the bolts i was told to, among others i found…and it still won’t fucking budge. And there’s no way of even loosening the belt so as to remove it, Newman…how the fuck did you get the belt on? There is no bracket to adjust tension of the belt…or at least, what i thought was the adjustment bracket came right off with the extra bolts i removed…and made no difference.
Realized i have NO FUCKING CLUE how the hell to get to the motor mounts, let alone loosen the bolts on them so i can pull the motor out…
And last but certainly NOT least…found a lot of shit i wish i had known about before:
Glad i never spent the money to get my AC recharged…because it probably wouldn’t have worked anyway…due to a mystery clip from the AC condenser hooked up to nothing… :gotme:
And this REALLY takes the cake…
Passenger side turbo inlet piping…what the fuck good is a clamp if it’s not tightened in the slightest…and how the fuck is the piping supposed to hold any kind of air with it being folded under like this?..
Driver side was even better…no clamp at all, nice…
Now i’m assuming that since those completely disconnected/half assed connected pipes are on the intake side of the turbos, and not on the pressurized/boost side, they weren’t the root of any of my boost leaks, but all that air either escaping/entering past the MAF sure as hell couldn’t have been good for my A/F ratios…
When i found all these little things that were just “overlooked” in the past, along with running into all the other little frustrations that kept me from accomplishing ANYTHING AT ALL tonight…i left in a bit of a fit…time to take in a few deep breathes, calm down, and recruit some experienced help for the next couple steps since my patience has clearly run out with trying everything solo…these things require 2 sets of hands i’m realizing…
Take your time dude. Don’t rush just so the car can be out for the season. These things take time especially when you are not a pro. Go slow and tackle one small issue at a time and you will figure it all out.
its a 300zx, they dont get the reputation of being hard to work on for nothing.
And at 6 psi I’m sure the pipes hold just fine.
but +1 for effort, I would never attempt such a task
Damn.
Chill out for a bit.
Where are you getting your information on how to pull the motor?
sucks dude…
i wish you the best of luck
TT.net’s tech pages…“Engine Removal” writeup…
for the PS pump, calls for removing 1 bolt behind the pulley itself (i found that there were 2) as well as 2 other bolts on the bracket to the side, just above the alternator…all removed, not moving.
The tech writeup also doesn’t say how/where to attack the motor mounts from, simply says “remove motor mount nuts”…
I think you’re confusing the bracket from the PS pump itself. Leave the bracket on the motor. You don’t need to take it off.
All you need to do it remove the adjusting mechanism (bottom of the pic below) which is only held on by 1 bolt. Then remove the long bolt (left most, longest bolt in the pic) and wiggle the pump off of the bracket. It’s only 2 bolts:
As for the motor mounts, you can see them once all the charge pipes are removed. Then you need some long extensions to get at them.
