Ok. So i just put some 6x9’s in the beater EK so i could hear my tunes better… and theres just still not enough thump. So i bought a cheap 10" w/ box and amp from a friend of mine… and got a amp install kit from walmart. Its the beater so i really shouldnt be that picky, but i got the 6x9’s for 20bucks, the sub/amp/box for 30, and the install kit for like 17. $67 isnt bad.
Anyways the issue i’m having is that i dont know dick about amps or how to set them… and in the deuce my deck lets me control the sub so thats simple. I havent wired it yet, because i’ll be pissed if i do and its too loud… i’d like a little more bass, but not overpowering. Well the deck in my beater apparently has no controls for a system, i honestly cant even find a treb/bass setting. Which is really annoying… so i’m going to have to hook it up and turn it down or set it on the amp? I guess i’m just asking if anyone would show me how to set the amp so it isnt to loud, since i apparently can’t do it from the deck, and i’m not buying a new deck… this is a low budget project.
Its very easy.
Set ur stereo at its loudest (without distorting, in other words as loud as it gets before it starts to sound like crap)
Set ur amp gain all the way down and start to turn it up until the sound out of sub starts to distort, when it does turn the gain down enough that it stops. And you are all set. This is the simplest way to tune subs/speakers but you have to know how distortion sounds because if you leave the gain in distortion you will most likely kill your sub woofer.
Swifty, gime a call if u need help, man. Thats what im here for man. PM me and i’ll give u my number. I could stop by after work if ur on my way, or u can just stop over at my house anytime after like 5pm till like 10-10:30(i dont want the neighbors yelling at me for loud cars thumping bass when their kid is sleepin’)
