Seeing as you guys were very helpful when I was shopping for computer speakers, I figured I’d ask some advice now that I’m TV shopping…
I haven’t bought a new TV in a while and to be honest I don’t know a hell of a lot about them, but I basically want something widescreen, HD, flat screen, etc…
and I’m looking for most bang for buck for around $1000 or under.
I don’t have any plans in the near future of getting surround sound set-up, so a TV with nice speakers is a definite plus.
Well I definitely want something by Christmas this year, so preferably something that is already out on the market… haha
Main thing the TV would be used for is mostly just watching regular TV (time warner digital) with the occasional movie. Barely any video game playing at all going on these days.
I thought I had heard that plasma TV’s were being phased out because LCD is taking over or something like that… any truth to that?
That was someones response when I noticed it seemed like more TV could be had with a plasma as opposed to a LCD…
Sony just had a huge prce drop on their TVs putting some good preformers under $1000.
Also a good thing to do is check out places like BJ and Sams club. My friend got a 42" HD LCD 120hz for under $700 there. It was a weird name but has been performing well for over a year now
Yea I’m definitely going to check there…
See I don’t even know what the 120hz would mean… I take it thats good? haha
Bottom line, when I throw a porn on is it going to look like I’m right up in the mix or what? LOL
lcd and plasma will be going out as soon as the organic LED’s come out. no biggie. its just like anything. u buy a VCR and a few years later u have DVD’s. now we have blue ray so…u feel me?
Hrz is easiest explained by how the tv displays motion. at 60hz things will bulr when moving fast. Our eyes see at 60hz. tvs however now display at 120hz and 240hz. 120hz i think is optimal. Clear picture on most movement but still some blur on super fast things. 240hz looks unreal. It is crystal clear in every situation.
That definitely helps with clearing things up (literally).
I take it the price goes up as the hz goes up as well?
For instance a 240hz tv will be much more money than a 60hz, right?
