Underbody rustproofing/prevention in WNY

Does anyone have any recommended rustproofing/prevention places around WNY?

Got a new truck that supposedly doesn’t have the best rust prevention coatings on the frame and underbody components, so I am looking to protect and prevent, not convert/repair existing rust.

Look into to car masters. On Seneca near transit.

DIY with this…

My dad swears by this place http://www.carwell.com/rustcopshop.htm

i use carwell

I will be going to carwell this fall as well.

Also have several friends who swear by carwell.

I went to Schmidts (sp) and paid about $110 last yr. glad it keeps the underbody clean but damn its dirty as hell. I had to take my other car back since they forgot to spray from the pass seats to the rear bumper…was kinda mad

We use a thick tar/wax like product and have good luck because it comes with a warranty for 5 years $449. Some guys like the thin spray you put on each year like Carwells, it’s different for everyone.

Hm I usually do the rubber undercoating in the spray… I might have to do that this winter and then the fluid film. can you get that shit local anywhere?

using that kind of coating on a vehicle that has already been exposed will just trap the mositure in and not stop the rusting from continuing.

on a vehicle thats not brand new, i would skip the undercoat and stick to oil underspray but thats just me.

Thanks guys. I’ll have a look at Carwell. What does it run for an underbody spray?

Truck is used but low miles and like-newish clean underneath. :tspry:

Carwell was just under $100 for a car last year for me. Trucks will probably be a little more I’d imagine? Also, book an appointment early! I called in late September last year and couldn’t get in until November.

Here’s an old thread for more info in case you want other options: http://www.nyspeed.com/showthread.php?34471-Underbody-rust-prevention&highlight=rust+prevention

Carwell here also … $94

There is a thread about this already I believe, but anyway I should get something done on my truck before it starts to really rust as well. Getting some bubbling on the rear after 3 buffalo winters. A DIY wouldn’t be a bad idea if I could put the truck up on xanders lift and not make a mess in his garage

I’m in for having this done on my new speed3, I met up with a fellow member to check out his car (2007 i believe). The under body was flawless, I was sold instantly on Carwell.

I have been using Carwell for years and I send everyone I can to them.

They were pretty cool, just booked my apt for October! Plus, I wasn’t aware of their warranty they had against rust formation (must be a new car etc). The $100 a year (over 12-15 years) is a much better investment than grabbing a winter beater. I would feel silly putting my speed in a garage for the winter, its a nice car but nowhere near the caliber of cars that are typically stored im sure.

EDIT:
I told her she should set up a discount for NYSPEED people, I mentioned how there was a TON of positive feedback on the forum which led me to their business…and not a single NEGATIVE review…which on an internet forum is practically unheard of!

Doesn’t any sort of rust prevention make it just miserable to work on your own car? It’s just oil and tar they spray on the underside, right?
