Ok guys, I just got back from the registries place and read the NUANS report.
As expected, Nissan Enthusiasts Car Club was NOT taken, and is available to us. The cool part of the report is that unless someone has applied for exactly the same society name and it is being processed right now, Nissan Enthusiasts Car Club is now RESERVED exclusively for us until May 18, 2005 - the period in which we’ll fill out applications and so forth.
The registries place is suggesting we get permission to use Nissan as part of our society name. That’s something that we can pursue, but really as long as we don’t use the Nissan logo on any of our club stuff OR represent ourselves as working for or being affiliated with Nissan directly, there’s not much they can do about it - provided we don’t give them justification by being idiots about it.
Oh, and interesting detail - The trademarks report has GTR listed as a Nissan trademark registered in Canada. I’m not kidding…how cool is that?

Hmmmmm, no Nissan logo’s eh? We may or may not have a problem with the Membership cards then. Cause there is a huge ass logo in the background. With that said, if you were Nissan, would you be offended by it and search out legal action??? :!:

The search was $48.15. Don’t worry about it, I’ll get it next time I meet you guys.
As for the Nissan logo, we can always try to call Nissan after the weekend and see what they say. I mean, I doubt that they would authorize us to use the logo without finding out more about the club, but who knows. We are a province-wide club, so we could be good advertising for them.
Anyway, I’ll give Nissan a call on monday to the phone number listed on their website and see what they say.
Just be very careful what you say, cause you don’t want to accidently say something they may use against us. Maybe just ask if a Canadian Nissan car club would happen to have the Nissan logo faded into the background of their membership cards, would they be offended?
