Anyone know what the current fee is? I am sick of them and have about a year left in my contract.
$200? maybe? i can’t remember… i know it’s completely ridiculous though.
Get out without ETF.

AWESOME! Thanks so much.
Wait so whats wrong with verizon besides thier lack of phones?
I’ve got tmobile and Couldnt be more unimpressed with thier service.
pretty much their lack of phones and awful customer service.
I’m going to AT&T because of my work.
Good luck. Verizon has the best service in this area. I’ve had AT&T (when it was Cingular) and it was terrible. I don’t know if things have changed now that they combined with AT&T but I don’t want to find out.
I had it when it was cingular too, and it sucked, but I guess they are alot better now. This was years ago.
you are completely wrong.
maybe you would rather pay full retail for your phones instead of the discounted amount?
anyways, it starts at $175, and they take off $5 for each month you have had service.
Isn’t it $5 every month after the first year?
You definitely can’t argue with verizon’s coverage. I certainly agree that they are the best for the area. I’ve just had numerous bad experiences with their C.S. And honestly, I like gadgets, so having the option of a cool phone certainly helps a sale.
I wonder if they’ll ever change over to GSM.
ive had at&t since I was 16, i’m almost 21 and I have NEVER had a bad call/phone. excellent customer service, my bill is never incorrect and overcharged… and I get service everywhere in the world I have been since ive had it. Everyone I know with verizon does nothing but bitch about how bad it sucks, reception and customer service.
att ftw
no

im curious as to your bad experiences. i’d probably wager that it was you not understanding something, and not liking the answer you got. And have you even looked at the current higher end phone offerings?

:picard:
Not even so much their lack of phones. I hate their ever changing plans. I now get billed for using data on my personal phone which uses mobile web 2.0 instead of minutes at $1.99/MB. Also, a PDA phone costs me $50 a month for data usage on it on top of the minute plan.
Exactly. My work is switching to AT&T and instead of carrying two phones, I would rather merge them into the new 3G iPhone and deal with one.
People outside the area come here all the time with AT&T and love it. Never any problems. I found it actually works better in more places than Verizon.
Yeah I was kind of surprised to see that on my last bill, it was rather lame.
this would only go into effect if YOU changed your plan after they came out with the new plans. Also, new data plans are $30/month if you dont need enterprise service. and if you do, well, work should be paying for it.

if you are going to have 2 numbers, enjoy swaping SIM cards each time you want to use the other number. Having 2 numbers on CDMA is still a pain, but not as much once the 2nd NAM is programmed. then its just a matter of choosing NAM 1 or 2.

Everyone has their own preferences in voice quality.
again, not saying it shouldnt have been disclosed to you, but its a change only brought on by YOU changing the plan. The difference is the America’s choice plans VS Nationwide plans.
There are advantages to Nationwide, and they have to do with data services while in extended coverage areas or roaming.
Those of you that used mobile web…it takes a lot of page loads to reach the same $5 you used to be paying. I believe it was about 80-100 page loads before you hit 1mb.
I’m not trying to justify the change, or anything VZW does. I’m only trying to explain.
Actually it’s been a few times where somehow they left a feature off of my account, and I got extremely high bills. Even though I was clearly not in the wrong, it took forever for them to change the mistake, and getting talked down to by people on the phone != good customer service. I certainly did not like the answers I was getting from them when they should have been righting their wrongs.
I’ve seen the phones they offer. But it seems like even with 2 year rebates, they are still a shit load more expensive than GSM phones and you don’t have the ease of switching phones whenever you want. i.e. the BJ2 that you can get for $70 on a new 2-year contract through AT&T.
And why the picard at the GSM comment? Cingular did it? Why can’t the best company ever OMG AMAZING do it?
I understand that for you it’s more of a natural reaction to defend them, I’m just offering my honest opinion. Not making shit up.
Do you hear alot of complaints about AT&T’s customer service? (seriously asking here)
EDIT - I actually read an article stating that Verizon was also considering making the switch back when cingular started to make the change.
AT&T is pretty solid, they have been pretty helpful on the phone whenever I have called, just have to be patient with them and theyll return the favor.
As far as the service I have had it for the last 4 years, and sometimes in thick brick buildings the service is shaky, but who needs to make a phone call in Knox Lecture Hall? :gotme:
1: i’ve had people talk down to me on the other end of a phone too, from multiple companies. not saying it should happen, but it does. Its going to happen at every company because you have a human element in the equation, and people have bad days. i cant imagine life as a customer service call center rep, they must take a verbal beating day in and day out. Best way i’ve found to have a pleasent experience on the phone with ANY company, be nice. you will stick out in their dreary day and they are more happy to help (as im sure you are more happy to help someone that is nice to you). I’m not saying you were mean, but next time your on the phone trying to get something fixed on a bill, take note of your own tone.
2: verizon is and will be CDMA for voice. 4g is coming, but its probably not going to work like an unlocked gsm phone. I’ll admit that i dont know enough on this topic to have a serious debate, but vzw isnt going to switch to GSM as you are suggesting.
and, serious question here…have you looked at prices for unlocked/full retail phones? its not the $20 subsidized prices that are advertised.
i have heard countless complaints about AT&T, Sprint, and everything else. it comes with the territory. i’ll tell you what though, my co-workers with AT&T blackberrys piss me off when they leave them too near their desk phones on conference calls.
