I got 2 noticed today…i guess i got a complaint from someone in the neighborhood stating that i have uninsure/unlicense cars in my driveway and i have a home buisness…Anyways i was reading one of the notice and it states this
“Code: TT-215-12(a): Home business in a residential district
Any bsiness is expressly prohibited in any first residential, second residential, or multi family zoning district; REPAIRING VEHICLES IS NOT ALLOWED IN A RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT AND MUST CEASE IMMEDIATELY!!”
That is the exact quote with the !! at the end… So does that mean i can not work on my OWN car because i live in tonawanda residential district?
And a notice that i cant have uninsured vehical in my driveway.
i only have 2 cars that i dont have on the road right now. the honda civic and the forester… so they will be in the garage as of tonight…everything else is registered and insured…
People are the fuckin worst…makes me want to put up a 6ft fence or move out into the countryside. lol anyways anyone know wtf is that other code for a home business? did someone typed that up at the building department?
are you running a buisness. thy cannot regulate what repairs you do on your own vehicle.I cant be 100 percent sure.If so good thing my neighbors do not know that as i do alot of work on peoples cars at my house
First post shows that you own at least 4 cars now, 2 of which are old and not on the road. And you live in a dense residential suburb. A quick search shows multiple old cars FS in just the last month or so.
This law is intended to keep people from shitting up a neighborhood with tons of old cars on their property.
As I’ve said lots of times before, I’m all for these laws. I live in a nice neighborhood, spent a lot of money to live there, and I wouldn’t want one of my neighbor’s driveways looking like ghetto motor sales.
There’s a big difference between the guy with the weekend toy that he occasionally works on in the driveway on nice days and the guy who keeps 4 POS’s in various states of disrepair parked in front of his house. If you want to do that shit moved out to the sticks where they don’t have zoning laws prohibiting it because each house comes with enough land that your neighbors don’t have to see your POS collection every day.
It’s unfortunate that sometimes an asshole neighbor takes advantage of these laws to simply harass someone by filling complaints over minor things though.
People like to bitch.
The previous owners of my house didn’t paint the exterior so after 5 years of owning it, it started peeling. Someone called the city and bitched and they gave me 2 months to repaint or fix it.
So I sided the house and now I have the newest looking house on the street. My little fuck you to the neighbor that bitched.
But I work on my own car in my garage and there isn’t shit they could do. I stop all the loud noise work at 9pm (usually). A big block is going to be loud and echo off the houses, oh well…
I actually ran my business out of my home garage for a while when I was looking for a shop. Never really had a problem with the neighbors, and they ALL knew what I was doing. However, I never had old rotten piles in the driveway either.
You paid for your house… not your neighbors. He can do whatever the fuck he wants. These laws are bullshit. Certain laws are acceptable… but this is stupid.
EDIT - BTW, I live in the sticks… so it doesn’t effect me one bit.
Wrong. The zoning laws are passed by the board who are elected by the residents of the town. Apparently a lot of us don’t want to live next to junk yards.
