vw help

So I took off my stock smic today, and it had oil in it. I want to make sure this if from my turbo being blown…because I’m pretty sure it iis. Right?

yes… its fine. mine had that when I took it off to do the fmic

Alright good, I have a new intercooler for it too. Just making sure.

Ya its just blow by

I can haz a bit of oil in my IC, too. Too cheap for a catch can, though, fuck 1970s motors.

just ls1 swap it

no… its the normal crankcase/head vent. the oil vapors condensaite in the pipes, since the intercooler is the coldest section of the tract, its a prime target for condensation.

If it was never drained, the mileage he has on it there is probably a lot in there. OP thats why people un catch cans. You see the Y shaped thing off the drivers side of the head, that collects the cranks case vent (above the oil filter housing) and the valve cover vent, combines them and sends it into the turbo inlet pipe. gets sent through the turbo, then like I said the smic grabs it and there u go.

If it was bearing (in the stock turbo’s case bushing) blow by there would be a LOT more oil, and a bunch of shaft play too.
