Water Temp Correction - Cold Starts

Hoping to get some input from standalone guys and/or guys running stock SR’s with some logging capability and/or guys running stock SR’s with Widebands.

For standalone guys:

  • How much do you enrich for cold starts? Please let me know what standalone you are using and at what temps you have correction factors. If you are running a wideband – what AFR are you seeing on cold starts?

For SR guys with Logging (Gonad, I’m looking at you)

  • Can you please log and post how the stock SR ecu accounts for changes to water temp, specifically on water temp warm up. I’d like to see water temp, ignition timing and injector duty from cold all the way to 80celcius. Also, if any of you guys are running widebands what AFR’s are you seeing when cold.

For SR guys with widebands:

  • Can you let me know how rich you are running on warm up?

Thanks all for any help… I’ll owe you a beer.

Nobody can help??

I had to up my water temp correction around .4 units I think it was. I forget exactly and unfortunately I have other effects that make it different also. Warms up at around 12-13:1 for me. I would post up my actual numbers but they are going to be useless to you, they are waaay off what they should be to mask another issue. I might not have time this year to get it all solved but if I do I will post up what my numbers are.

My 240 is done for the year. The clutch slave (or line or something)
went and I’m putting it away.

But I still have that data from that night I drove around so I’ll see what I can do.

You can do the calculations to ball park it, thats what i did with my EMS, my coldstart enrichment map looks like this:

(however ive never tested it due to obvious reasons, this was one thing i really wanted to do over the winter, start it at different temperatures each day and adjust and then shut it off right away make my adjustment try again etc)

I have a generic enrichment table, that no matter what wheenver the coolant temp is xx the ems adds this much fuel:

but then I also have start up extra + decay, so for a set number of seconds at each temp (decay table) I can add a certain % of fuel on top of my enrichment table, just to help things get going when the engine is first started.

Because of this feature I think my generic enrichment table is much much too great below 10 degrees celius. It would take toying with to figure out however, either way with this current setup the car always ran great after startup, but ive never started it colder than 10degrees celcius or so (assuming water temp was the same)

I hope this helps dude! dont forget wideband take 30seconds or so to warm up, so they are useless when you first start your car (start extra and start decay for the most part) you mostly have to go by how she sounds

Wicked Sasha… it’s stuff like this that starts to show where the extra money goes when you buy the AEM.

As for your water enrichment table…is this a prepopulated AEM table or are these figures you have inputed?

For example, 20% at 30c – was that there or did you decide that value?

if memory serves me correctly i did the water enrichment table and the start extra and decay tables are AEM factory maps
