You are the ones that have paid and are keeping this club going, so tell us what we are doing right, wrong, or not at all. We want your feedback!
i want to see our sponsers pay some money to the club so we can get pylons a few days before our lapping day.
or maybe some other sponsers like garage works or speedtech.
i have delt with both and have not one complaint.
yes competent sponsers are a must!!!
Less bitches, more hos.
I would like to see more sponsors maybe some from Calgary. Autodream has so far been very nice to deal with, and let them donate some pylons or something like that.
I’ll sponsor…well not me…but i need to know how much ect…I know my dad would offer parts discounts, car discounts ect.
agreed i have talked with david and he said he would like to sponser NECC so if you would like i can talk to him some more as i see him lots
Our sponsorship papers are almost done, and we will be approaching new sponsors on board very quickly.
Who’s your dad? Does he own a dealership?
nope… www.dkimports.ca
just have a question,… is Erickssen still a sponsor? I noticed there forum is gone?
Eriksen is now an affiliate. They offer us a discount, but haven’t actually paid us for a sponsorship.

Just some thoughts on sponsorship…
I have done some fairly successful sponsorhip programs with some profile corporate partners in my various jobs and the key to a successful partnership is to try to avoid the cookie cutter approach, i.e., we can’t give all sponsors the exact same thing for the same money. Illustrated here . Also, it is not really a good idea to have more than one sponsor in any one category but they do have to pay for exclusivity.
I have some suggestions and am willing to share them beyond just some site posts but here it is in broad strokes. If some of you guys want to get together one evening for maybe an hour I can hammer through this stuff and provide ongoing support.
From a sponsor’s point of view, sponsorship is a business transaction not a donation. So, we have to offer a return on investment for the sponsor. We need to ask the question, “how can we ring their cash registers”?
If we approach a potential sponsor like we are asking for help or for a donation, they see little benefit. Instead, we have to find a business solution for them. If we think about what they truly need and then go about developing a sponsorship program that meets those needs we will get more from the sponsor and likely for longer periods of time.
Each company or category has a hot button. For example, car manufacturers want people to test drive new cars, they want to display new models, etc. Alternatively, repair / customization shops lilkely want to demonstrate their competence, showcase work they have done, connect with customers. Because different companies have different needs they must be treated differently for us to maximize revenues.
We have to customize our offers and try to provide the sponsors something unique to them. All car clubs seem to be the same…ask a dealer for parts discount which gives the dealer nothing in return since they could sell the same part with no discount. The only thing they may get is some loyalty to their brand so that some time many years down the road perhaps someone will buy a car from them (how many three year old or newer Nissans are in our club?). But surprise, if we are already a Nissan Enthusiasts club I think there is already the loyalty to the brand so not much incentive for a dealer to offer any real benefit to the club.
We have to think outside the box. This is only an example…
Suppose we can guarantee that each summer we will have one or two track events (or other events) with a prediction of a decent number of people in attendance in addition to other things the club does. Instead of asking someone to donate cones, we provide the track day as part of their sponsorship program. Suppose they are a shop like Speedworks, Lightspeed, AutoDream, whomever - take your pick. We invite them (as part of their deal with us) to the track day to set up their display and perhaps give a tech Q and A session. They get to meet potential customers while the customers’ cars are sitting right there which is very important. The customers get to ask questions, talk about their specific goals for their cars and build a relationship / trust with the sponsor.
Anyway, I think we could generate some decent revenue from this approach but it takes work and commitment from club members. It isn’t easy but it can be rewarding if done right. This is just a wild ass guess conservative guess but I think we could easily generate a couple thousand bucks using this approach.
Dave
We are planning a board meeting, and you will be invited. Sounds like you have some great ideas.
Yeah, we’d talked about already having you at a board meeting! :E
I agree - my concern with the sponsorships was what the sponsors are getting for their money, there’s no sense in signing up a sponsor and then having them pissed off because the money was wasted.
One benefit of the full sponsorships that I can see, and that other clubs don’t seem to offer, is free admittance of one “shop vehicle” to our events included in the sponsorship price.

Let me know when and where the meeting is and I will be there.
