Welding a floor

Before I do anything else on the Swift, I need to patch up the rocker panels and floor. Anyone know the best way to go about this? I was told to use 22 gauge sheetmetal for the hole in the floor. How about the rockers?

This is going to be my first time using a MIG welder… i’ll bet i fuck something up.

cut patches out of ur old hood!!!

no way… that hood is thinner than paper. i’ll drop a quarter on the floor and it’ll go straight through!

on the rockers!!!its the same metal!!!

are you sure? my hood is very cheap… it flaps in the wind.

yes!!!

ok!!! i’ll try that. thanks!

if not 18g sheet metal will work. MAKE SURE ITS NOT GAVLANIZED!

Welding galv w/o griding off the dull cover that well, galvanizes the metal will produce a toxic gas…

I tried practice welding on my old CRX hood. on the lowest mig setting it went right thru!.. so 16 or 18g steel(you can get at Home Depo) will work… I was gonna do this to my old 85 Si, but the rockers were eaten and not worth the money to sink into them.

mmmmmmmmm…toxic galvanized metal gases…mmmmmmmm

couldnt you use rivets as well?

no,it will turn shitty if u do!!!

x2!! works good did that one the rear quater on my crx! bent and formed that shit on my legs and tacked that bitch up there with a lil sheet of copper behind it so it didnt warp the metal on the car—bending and tacking like paullie!
