WG Bolts Backing Out?

i got back to the shop tonight after a day of abuse. couple hours of tuning (thanks partner, chook), then a little racing/cruising. little cruise up to the border and back, which sucked ass btw.

on the way back i get on it a couple times…acting kind of wierd. poppy, etc.

get back to my shop, hear some leakage… open the hood and see BOTH of my WG bolts have backed out. they are bolted from the top no less. my WG was only held in place by the dump tube. its almost as if someone is fucking with me. the bolt holes do not go all the way through to the manifold, so you can rule air psi agains the bolts out. i am not wasting too much air… the only thing i can think of is too much BP on the engine side. but why would that happen just now?

is there another reason this could have happened? these bolts do NOT easily go in, they screw in VERY solid. should/can i locktite them?

WTF PeOpLe?!?

Why not locktite them? use the blue locktite as its not as permanent as the red? ( i think)

safety wire them?

im supposed to be the motorcycle dude… lol… yea… safety wire is the better way… if u need somebody with the tool, i can probably find one for you

also use lock washers thats what fixed my problem. my WG bolts used to always come out daily. try that and some locktite.

happened on my Tial and I lockwashered them and locktited them

lol, and it even shows the pig tails, kind of a crappy safety wire job though… i would suggest going around each bolt a little more… come to think of it… I’m kind of confused how the pigtail is where it is…

you guys don’t know locktight, not gonna work with the heat.

Been there. Use lock washers.

X2

grade 8 bolts or higher and lockwashers of the same likeness.

I have a safety wire tool if anyone needs to borrow it. you can also get one at HF for around $8.

lock washer.

locktite will not work there

if you’re going to use a lockwasher, i suggest a belleville style.

Newman - even better. i knew we kept you around for a reason.

and, WTF scoobaru??

nice… i’ll try those

stanard split washers always seem to loose their locking abilty with the heat
