What Blew Up Travis's STi?

im not sayin hes a bad kid ive known him bout 8-10 yrs or so but hes a giant 8 yr old as are some of us i know i am. but i think what comes into play here is trav THINKS he has a huge knowledge base of cars when he really doesnt like a lot of people on here do, he just has no prob opening the mouth and inserting foot i guess ya could say…im not tryin to defend the kid but sittin here motherfuckin him aint gonna do anything as we all have seen the end resault out of him nothin…and as far as tuners go you will never have a perfect client list or tune its the way it is ya could be the best and there will be that one guy that hates ya and blame ya for fuckin his car when its his fault:i,e full throttle runs on a fucked up car TRAV;…well ive said my peace now lets continue the bashing if ya will ;D

This thread is brutal.

Given the state of the tune per Travis (AFR - cylinder washing) and the tuner that he initially went with, I am not surprised at the outcome. That car had major issues and I think it’s only fair to point the fingers MUCH earlier than when it actually “broke”.

my car ran 100% fine on the stock turbo/tune that i received in new jersey with celtic1982citlec. the target boost was not being reached as i had a bad boost control solenoid. (ive explained this part already). oiling problems developed and caused the failure of the stock turbo, and then the demise of the fp green the first time around. between the time the fp green was installed and the motor blew dom (imprezarsx) attempted to tune my car at byrons… (by tune i mean set injector scaling properly so the car would idle and run properly til i had sufficient funds for a full dyno tune). the car would not build boost past 12psi at byrons. (once again due to the boost solenoid).
i was told “thats the best i can do for $45.” now i realize 45$ aint a whole lot of coin, but letting a car leave with that sort of afr to me regardless of cost seems unprofessional to me. if my name were attatched to a car and there was potential of it comming back to burn me id do a little more to ensure safety than say “yeah theres ur $45 worth, have a nice day” ( those words may not have been used but that seems to be the general jist of things). this is in the past now and i have a RELIABLE tune on the car now from a tuner i trust and it will not stop me from steering people away from Dom and to Seth at moon at every chance i get. IN MY EYES, DOMS TUNE COST ME A MOTOR. the end.

Dude are you retarded?

He’s saying:

The car had ISSUES when you brought it to him, you expected him to get your car running perfectly for $45?

He even told you it had issues, and said that’s the best he could do with it in it’s current state, you cost YOURSELF a motor being a fucking cheap ass about it.

Also, how the hell would he know what afr you had if he never left your driveway, you asked him to fix your injector scaling and make it idle better, using the ecu alone, that’s exactly what he tried to do, clearly there were other issues besides the tune however.

Travis, you are a fucking moron. The end.

YOU knew the car was not running right. YOU willing drove it, and from what others are saying drove it hard, KNOWING it was not running right. YOU ruined that motor.

wow, I’m speechless… no class.

Take a step back and look at it.

Horrid tune but drove to tuner. Got tune from tuner (whom is still suspect given some of the things you quoted him saying regarding his dyno), drove the car to Dom with $45 who told you not to drive it hard, you then drove the snot out of it. Then, find out the car was raped from the beginning.

You sure you want to point finger at him?

haha DOM took my car for 2-3 runs up and down byrons road himself. pootmasterflex was there with me and celtic1982citlec was there as well, as witnesses. im sorry, but you all were NOT there. reread what i wrote. the 45$ was to make the car run until i had enough cash for a proper DYNO tune… dom was roadtuning only. the AFR of the tune dom put on the car was verified by seth when he strapped it to his dyno with a wideband in preparation for my current tune with the built block. i was unaware of there being any issues with my motor at the time dom tuned it WITH THE EXCEPTION of the bad boost control solenoid. i had no other KNOWN issues. i was of the assumption that the tune on the car was sufficient til it was able to be brought to a dyno. i could only boost ~12psi though…which still felt faster than the stock turbo. none of you can criticize because u werent there and you dont know for a fact what was said by whom and what happened unless you were there. it appauls me sometimes at the quickness to judge me on something so many of you know so little about. did i make a mistake in TRUSTING this tune was good enough to drive on… YOU BET YOUR ASSES. i just see it as a learning experience and i wont be going to dom for anything again. Seth will get my business and i will point all my friends in that direction as well.

so you expected him to work for free because there was an underlying issue with your car. and if he didnt work for free it was unproffesional?

did he tell you there was an issue that wouldnt allow him to get the car running properly?

I am just trying to get you to look at it from a 3rd party to give an unbias look at it. I know that’s tough as it’s your car. I am simply saying that you had problems all along and you also had a horrid AFR going down to get the tune. Perhaps, I am not sure what exactly was done for you via Dom?

What did $45 get you? What was the AFR before/after?

so as i understand it you the only change you made that required the new adjustment was larger injectors, so i ask why not keep the old ones in until you had enough cash to afford a tune? or was the original tune so bad it didnt matter.

he said the boost control solenoid was bad… which was obvious. i paid him to get the car to idle and rev properly… which i THOUGHT he had done. yes there were oiling problems which boxersix took care of while at KTA. and they were gracious enough to extend me the courtesy of a payment plan as i was in financial dire straights at the time. i just find it odd that AFTER all the issues were fixed internally the motor goes boom 3 days later and i find out from my tuner after i replace the block that the previous tune looked like total garbage.

shawn let me clarify… the afr from the tune in NJ was spot on with the stock turbo. we put in a walbro, a new fuel filter, and 850cc injectors when i switched to the green… needed that set to run decent… thought thats what dom did… motor goes boom 3 days after oiling problem is sorted. 10 months pass… new block installed, driven to moon… seth @ moon says afr WAYYY rich and was surprised any tuner left it that way.

i was of the assumption back then in order for my green to run to its potential it needed larger injectors than the stock 565cc… so i installed 850cc’s and needed latency and scaling set so the car would run properly… oops.

Didn’t Dom dell you don’t drive the car hard? Didn’t you drive the car hard anyways? If you did something Dom told you not to, he is in no way at fault. He might have gotten it to idle and rev properly, but that doesn’t mean it was safe to drive hard, or often. From what Dom/Byroll01 says he mentioned this to you.

I smell HYPOCRITE!!! I lose track of how many times you do this in a month on the forums. Sorry Travis, but that was a pathetic and worthless defense that holds sparce flame to what you do on these forums…

Since I can’t seem to understand this timeline in the least bit…

You got a tune in NJ had issues so drove and immediatly got it tuned by Dom? Than blew your block 3 days later from something slightly unrelated? And than TEN months later after the new block was installed finally got it dyno tuned and was told your AFR was way to rich? If it was so rich how did you drive the car for those 10 months? Or am I missing something where the car was out of commission for a couple of months.

forums hardly express the true nature of ones self. adam in person you know me to be very different from how i am online. most people dont quite understand what i try to convey. as i said… its in the past… i have my opinions, other people have theirs. im just going to recommend seth. simple as that.

Thats fine, you can recommend whoever you want. But you are still putting the blame on someone else, when the blame is clearly yours.

ok here is the timeline…

went for tune in NJ… drove car for month or 2… car blew stock turbo… bought fpgreen, injectors, fuel pump, turbo inlet… installed them… went to dom to have injector scaling/latency set. fp green blows up 2 days later… i bring to adam hennessy @ kta…discover oiling problem… adam repairs oiling issue… driving to work 3 days later, motor goes boom on northway… 10 months pass… i get new block installed, drive to moon performance (still on doms “tune”… find AFR richer than 8.1:1 seth scales injectors properly… car stops misfiring, car set at solid 14.7:1 afr at cruise and 11.2:1 under WOT… seths tune = thumbs up… doms tune = thumbs down.
