I own an SRT-4 and I just drove a Cobalt SS 2 days ago…no comparrison. The SRT was way nicer, faster, smoother. The inside of the SS looked really cheap, it wasn’t very comfortable and I wasn’t impressed at all with acceleration. It’s not worth the money for an SS Cobalt.

Interiors are VERY comparible. The SS has the GM feel, but is very comfy, especially those seats. The SRT viper inspired seats are nice, but a little bit too much for the type of car it is.
The SRT is faster in a straight line stock for stock, but both take to mods very well. Throw 1500 at your stock SRT, and race mike @ new era’s cobalt and tell me who wins
Finally, I don’t know about smoother. Superchargers are known for their super flat power curves, where as turbo motors are known for the boost coming on hard after the lag. Are you talking smooth acceleration, or just smooth riding like… suspension?

well the kid that posted this thread was talking about keeping the car stock. most cars take to mods well, the cobalt has less horsepower than the SRT4…so you are starting off slower. I hated the interior of the cobalt. it looked worse than the inside of a grand am. The seats the SRT4 has are perfect for the car. When you are taking turns hard, you don’t fly all over the place. They are made for racing. The cobalt is typical GM…cheap looking/feeling.
I know the difference between turbos and super chargers…When I got on it in the ss…it felt a little faster than a cavalier but by no means did it “wow” me. It felt very slow and choppy. The SRT4 would out perform the SS anyday.

a little faster than a cavalier LOL.
i owned a cavalier before my SS…its almost a 100hp difference stock for stock. absolute night and day.
the choppiness is from the gear ratio choice gm made. they delivered a car made for auto x and road courses one that delivers power out of the corners. first gear is ridiculously short and with the instant torque from the S/C you get the choppiness.
yeah I agree with greenbull. the choppiness is a gear related. as for power band. before i tuned more my band was smooth and extremely consistent. My car is in no way a high priced sports car but im happy for now. I have basically the same setup as chris, but i agree with him, if i had the opportunity id trade in for the vette. And yes ive seen his car inside and out, and going by what people say he definitely takes care of it. A few hard pulls everyonce in a while is not beating on it either. Again to each his own, but i think GM did ok with the cobalt. The turbo will be sweet if it actually happens though
