Just wanted to see what people use to detail their car. I am planning on claying my car for the first time. Next I planned on ordering some Zaino Z-5. I thought about using the rest of my McGuires NXT 2.0, but am not sure if I am “wasteing my time” instead of using the Zaino.
i wash with a wax remover, then clay bar the truck, then i go over vehicle with a light buff using a polish pad, then i do the 3 step meguirs, i then use Meguirs Tec Wax in the can. i apply 2-3 coats. This lasts for awhile with every couple days of washing.
ive done this to the blazer and it helped greatly remove the spiders and scratches from offroading. its also same procedure i use on the silverado
I have some stuff I’ve bought from Autoality as well as online.
I have Meguiar’s Car Wash (some blue Professional line stuff)
DP Clay Bar and Lube (ehhh heh heh)
Poorboy’s SSR1 and SSR2
Meguiar’s #26 wax
Collinite’s Wax
Imperial Hand Glaze.
Wash. Usually something cheap like Meguiar’s Gold Class.
Clay Bar. Whatever brand I happen to have available at the time.
Pinnacle XMT Stage 4 Swirl Remover with Medium Cut Pad
Poorboy’s SSR2.5 to clean up whatever the XMT didn’t get, Light Cut Pad
Poorboy’s SSR1 to clean up whatever light swirls/fine scratches are left, Polishing Pad
Meguiar’s #26 High Tech Yellow Wax or Poorboy’s Natty Blue. Finishing Pad.
Meg’s Hot Rims for wheels, Poorboy’s Bold-n-Bright for Tires and Trim/Moldings, Stoner’s Invisible Glass on Windows, Meg’s Quick Interior Detailer on interior.
The things I do for my factory black paint. No amount of buffing/polishing/waxing can get rid of the cracks and checks that 26 years of age and abuse cause in single stage (did I mention black?) paint. Car needs a respray in the worst way, but my process keeps me happy enough for now.
When it comes to waxes you will hear 100s of different answers. Theres nothing wrong with the OTC Mothers and Meguiars. I use more high end products for there ease of use and the fact that they dont stain trim so i dont have to tap off all my trim and molding pieces when i just wax my cars.
Quik if you allready buffed with a light polishing pad using meguiars 3 step is just wasting your time. The idea behind those polishes is to be used by hand with out a buffer. Its actually just a chemical cleaner that can remove some oxidation. Theres really no correction from the 3step process. With what you said I would just wash, clay, polish and wax you are going to achieve the same results with out the 3step.
Because it would be worse on an Acadia, it would confuse people in the parking lot at the grocery store, and the soccer moms would think that speed was being sold from the vehicle.
