What to consider: 636/gsxr 600/cbr600rr

The 05-06 636 feels a lot smaller and nimbler, but if I were to buy a bike I would def get another 03-04.

reasoning?

I think the 05-06 was tuned to be a more track aimed bike. It feels narrower at the gas tank.

I would get another 03-04 because the are cheap, plentiful, and what my idea of a sport bike looks like. All bikes will be dependable if they are taken care of and will have enough power for any normal person. The geometry on my 03 felt a lot better to me than my buddies 06, especially with the front wheel in the air.

I haven’t really rode any other bikes enough to compare besides these two. (besides the f3 I learned on, lol)

Thanks for the info.

Personally, this bike will be a fun toy, and used for the occasional track day.

I don’t see myself moving up from a 600 for many many years.

How about from a new rider’s perspective? Are there any critical differences in this regard?

What have you rode prior to researching 636’s?

I highly doubt it. All prejudices/favorites aside, a newer bike will be just as safe/powerful/reliable as the next given the same circumstances (maintenance, if it was ever dropped at a high speed, etc)

Same, i’ve ridden a few friends bikes and always preferred the 6r… I owned a 02 6r, rode several different bikes then and ended up buying an 07 6r… There is not one thing i hate or even dislike.

I rode Paulo’s 600RR, I really liked that, seat position was a lot more comfortable than mine, but it grows on you. I rode an 05-06 636, it was a lot similar to mine, but like someone above posted the tank is more narrow. The 05-06 had transmission problems compared to the 03-04 which were indestructible if taken care of. Common problems like i told you are the CCT which just makes a ticking sound but does no harm whatsoever. My first choice in a bike was the 03 600rr but it got sold so i went to look at the 636 and bought it that day. Loved it ever since.

yup mine ticked and the valves were in spec. i think they all do

Rode paulos today, what a difference from the 636, I forgot how my cbr felt

good or bad difference?

side note…not trying to jack this thread or anything but i have heard tons of guys who have has gsxr’s and then other bikes and everyone always said they liked their gsxr’s the least or flat out dont like suzuki’s…so any of you out there that feel this way…little explanation as to why? i love mine and can’t figure out what everyone hates about them…

R6

Not a bad difference, I thought his bike felt stiff/had an uncomfortable seat, but at the same time he thought my bike was smooth but not as responsive.

Given though, we are both used to our bikes, so a quick swap doesn’t say too much

I would say screw Suzuki and decide between kawi or honda

Suzuki just doesn’t make as good a bike, quality wise, powerband feel, IMO looks

Not trying to knock Suzuki, this is my biased opinion so don’t weigh it too heavily

looks and powerband feel are self explanatory, but why do u have that opinion about quality, whats it based on, thats what im curious about…

Personally, I would never buy a Suzuki or Yamaha, just something about them that i just don’t like

I have always felt that way about Yamaha, but not soo much about suzuki.

Still, my search will be for a 600rr or 636, no doubt. I have been looking daily so hopefully something will pop up that gets the ball rolling on selling my current bike.

wOOt!

how far you looking to travel to get one and how much you looking to spend im stuck in bed for the next week cuz of my surgery but all i do is scope out ebay and craigslist for bikes and shit ill keep an eye of for u… decide on the year range for each?
