if you wanted to get into the rwd turbo imports, what would you buy?
i been just lookin around and i like late models, like around 1990 and such
240’s rx7’s supra’s…
any others that are fairly inexpensive and fun to drive?

Nissan!!!
best bang for your buck
id be happy with an NA 240 even…
i’ve heard of soooo many people getting sr20’s for cheap!
240 shell = 500??
SR20DET = 2000???
:dunno:
what happenend to the f-body you wanted?
rwd domestic>rwd import
i would go with an RX7 because i have always wanted to learn more about rotary engines.
im just lookin at something to play with…
$2500 for 250+hp > $11,000+ for 300+hp
i still want an fbody, but wont be considering 1 till insurance goes down and such
im a little scared of the rotary… heard bad things about the Rear main seal
Its a toss up between what bandwagon Im gonna be hopin on after this project is done.
its either the LS1 or SR20. Just maybe a LS1 240 :naughty:
or well over 300 for under 5K - for an f-body like mine :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:
LT1 :jerkit:
Auto :jerkit:
if i got anyting it would be 99+ and 6spd
really what i would LOVE to do is LS1 in a truck like an S10 or sonoma
but lets get back on topic about RWD Imports!
sorry hunnie… but this LT1 Auto will outrun you driving a 99 6-speed
take the money you save and buy a tq.conv. and headers, and you’re really set…
I was thinking the same thing, kind of: modern obdII/MEFI-4 bigblock, th400/4L80e and a four link’d 14-bolt rearend. 3/4 ton truck underpinnings with a 240 shell on top.
Yes, it would be heavy, but lots of fun!
not bad idea…
i mean… isn’t it said - LS1 in anything makes it God
lol
Theres more to it than that.
Swap will be around $2000
You’ll need a clutch, an FMIC, a fuel pump, a boost controller, a 3 inch downpipe, and exhaust. Just to get you started that is.
240 + SR swap seems to be by far the cheapest and most reliabe of those mentioned.
BTW, did anyone else see that there is an LS1 powered RX7 in Sport Compact Car’s Ultimate Street Car Challenge? I don’t know if the results were released yet or just the profiles on the cars.
i only read a couple posts of this thread, but tuesday in either the trib or post gazette, they had a 93 240 with the sr20det swap turbo yada yada for i think 5000… i thought it was a pretty good deal. low miles too
Miata, MR2, 240sx, 300zx, supra, 280z, rx7.
i say get a DeLorean it aint cheap…but you can mess w/ time.
i would say my car but 300zx and cheap dont go hand in hand lol
