what would you do

if you knew a certain illness was common among your family and there was a chance that you could get it or have it. would you want to know or wouldnt you. give your reasons why or why not

since cancer seems to run in the family on my mothers side theres a good chance i’ll get it or etc. but been thinking about this i would rather not know and live my life to its over then to find out and have it drastically change my life.

i think somethings are best keep unheard

what if it’s something that could be treated, and if caught early enough, cured? then knowing about it in its earliest stages would be in your best interest.
if you dont find it until it is in late stages then you’ve given yourself 0 chance.

IMHO there isnt no hope for cancer just prolonging it and causing huge amounts of debt. and then you have to live with the whole situation of knowing you have it and are counting your days.

I think you should go for periodic checkups. Talk to a doctor about it and see what he recommends as far as keeping an eye on things. I’m not saying to obsess about it, but if you catch these things early there’s a way better chance of treating it.

And we want you sticking around for a while.

MY family has the same exact thing I have been watching my dad fight cancer for the last 3 1/2 years and it is finally gone so …

I would not want to know. Let me enjoy my life without the unneeded stress of some disease/illness you can’t control anyway.

get checked and man up

if breast cancer was common in your family wouldn’t you want your mom/sis/gf to get checked. cancer isn’t a death sentence, it’s real bad news, but i know several survivors who caught it early.

ps. i’m in your shoes, and i get checked regularly

my family has history of heart disease on dad’s side of family
i am hoping my borther sister and I can go together and hopefully get a family group discount on surgery

cancer is in my dads side. I would hope that cancer treatment gets better over the years and hope it can be cured if the time comes if i would get cancer or same for my sisters.

if i had a greater chance of developing a disease or illness due to my genetics, you better believe i would be at the doctors ASAP. My health is the most important thing in the world because without it you have nothing.

My maternal and paternal genes both have high blood pressure, prostate cancer, heart disease and diabetes to name a few things in them. My grandmother on my mothers side died of a massive hear attack before age 50. so knowing all of this gives me even more motivation to continue my regular exercise and proper eating habits for the duration of my life.

Jimmy

when its your time, its your time and no matter what you do to try to stop its going to happen anyways. im sorry but i see alot of treatment just buys you time and runs up debt

thats your opinion and i respect that but i dont agree at all.

thats a tough call. i think i’d also not want to know. i worry too much as it is and would rather just live the rest of my life happy rather than worrying when i’m going to die.

it all ready sounds like you made your decision

That is not always true… and here are some other things that you need to think about…

When one person in a family gets cancer… the entire family has cancer. It affects every person you know. Anyone who cares about you, is worried about you. People who have enjoyed your company, are realizing they may not be able to enjoy your company for much longer. Your family is realizing they may not get to spend the next holiday with you. Younger family members need to be explained to about cancer and death. Then are expected to be ok with their favorite Uncle or whoever just dissapearing. Your family is then expected to sift thru your things while their hearts are broken and divy it all up. Someone has to make arrangements, while grieving you, to have a tasteful ceremony and burial.

All because you wouldn’t get a simple test and eat more fiber???

quik as much as ppl hate to admit we want u around hating for many many years !!! id rather know than not know but thats me… if i know then ill actuallyenjoy my life n tell ppl off than not know n then be fucked not getting what i want because i knew i had time to get it !!

can i shoot you now to save everyones misery er i mean to prevent your suffering

I have a Very well educated Neorosugen Client (he spells better than I) and I had this conversation with him just 2 weeks ago, he says that todays treatments are so effective that its well worth it to go to them, I asked because my Bro was sick and he didnt want to go through the treatment all over again but this Dr. tells me its dumb not to and the chance of survival it so high now.
So IMO I wana know, I wana do somthing bout it, for my kids at least, so They wont have to live life without a father as I have done.

Quik if you have insurance (or even if you don’t) go get checked and quit being all dramtic about it. :finger:

In all seriousness keeping it in check will go a long way if and when its detected early…
