If you can find me a milling machine that I can use ill do it.
the machining should be done on a lathe. it has to be a gap-bed lathe to allow clearance for the wheel radius.
Not all the many 18" swing lathes handy. You can do it on a mill or lathe. Doesn’t matter. All that does is that the work piece is positioned and held proper.
true. but most larger gap-bed lathes can handle a 10" RADIUS. for a matter of a fact i had to modify a pulley on a vertical band saw in our shop that has a 9.375" radius. having a big enough chuch or surface plate is the issue.
Anyone? Looking to get this done asap so I can get my wheels touched up and powdercoated.
Thanks green, but don’t know of any.
what is the wheels radius?
He has a better chance finding a milling machine. If Jeff at First Try still had his it I would have done it already.
They are 18" Wheel’s. So i’m assuming ~9"?
it also couls be done on a boring mill, and most job shops have a lathe with the necessary swing and a boring mill.
