good luck with that, I looked into it once, 6-7 years ago. After about 5 minutes I found that Resses (sp?) monkeys are upwards of $2k, and have to clear a number of extensive safeguards… this was through breeders that “wholesale” to the scientific community.
You have to spend almost as much on the screenings & licensing as you would on the pet.

I know it’s legal but have no clue where to find one.My GF’s friend had a couple back when I was in school.I would call the SPCA and a few of the bigger pet shops.
On 2nd thought I pet a few of the smaller ones might have more of a hookup/know on where to get one.

Monkey’s can’t really be house trained like a normal pet. They can get very aggressive. They live a long time and are very intelligent so require a huge commitment. Because of their intelligence, they can’t be trained like a normal pet. They have to be treated almost like a child, not a dog. They can have markedly different relationships with different members of a family, often deferring to and sucking up to the “alpha” of the family, while scapegoating and abusing the weakest member, which would be your daughter. They also can carry many diseases that can be passed on to humans, as well as being susceptible to many human diseases, which can be crippling to them. Most vets don’t know or won’t work with monkeys, because of their aggression or a simple lack of knowledge.
In short, a monkey is a terrible pet, especially for a child. If she likes monkeys, take her to the zoo.
