Some of the Kuro technology goodies was actually purchased by Sharp. Panasonic was in the works IIRC but never actually go the patents from Pioneer. It has been confirmed at least not anytime soon if ever Panasonic will be using Kuro technology.
DLP TV’s are great for the Size/Price standpoint. DLP’s actually look great, but a few things to consider.
-Viewing angles are limiting: Its not as bad as people make it out to be, if your sitting around it, its generally fine, but if your sitting way off to the side the picture will not be as bright/clear.
-Bulb Life: The bulb will need to be replaced ~4000 Hours or so, not to big of a deal depending on how much you watch the TV and how long it is on for, but at 300 bucks a pop if not a little more for the bulb its something to consider.
-Rainbow Effect: Some people are sensitive to this and notice it, basically you may notice a rainbow effect on the screen from the color wheel, its not blatent, its very subtle if you even do notice it, but it bugs some people, but honestly i would not worry about it.
It really depends on how critical you are, if you want a big fucking TV with good quality picture, and dont want to spend upwards of ~1500 bucks, then its the best bang for the buck your going to get…
Think of a DLP like nitrous, not everyone agrees with it, but for the performance vs price standpoint you can’t beat it.
How far are you going to be sitting away from the TV adam? and what were you looking to spend?
