Heres the problem with 120hz-240hz-600hz. The TV at its core still functions at 60hz, because well thats what your content is broad casted/streamed in. The refresh rate game is just a marketing gimmick. LCD’s with 120hz-240hz have “smooth motion” effects as well as “judder canceling/real cinema in your case”
With these on, it “adds” frames that are not there to give you a smoother/less choppy picture. This is called the “soap opera effect” some people like it some people dont. Even if you don’t like it but have watched it with it on for awhile, when you turn it off chances are your pissed because now your picture seems laggy/choppy , especially in panning scenes.
Plasmas “600hz” is just a gimmick as well, the plasma is a 60hz set, the reason it gets a 600hz stamp is because of its subfield drive, some dude came up with some math to do with the subfield, it came out to 600hz, and because of the fine line with marketing bullshit/truth with TV’s there allowed to market it as a 600hz TV.
The plasma will not seem any “smoother” than the LCD, but the picture will be clearer and you won’t get as much motion blur due to the phosphors ability to change so quickly.
I could go on and on, its 930, im a little tired… might have missed something, but feel free to keep going… I love these debates.
