Yah I think most peoples beef is that last year all you needed was $50. And this year you need around $3000 in safety equipment to enter. I think it would have been better if it was a bit more progressive.
Like I use to race Pro MX and helped teach summer camps for younger people wanting to learn how to ride. And you could tell which kids wanted to learn and improve and which kids didnt (cause if they were falling over… they were trying) others who werent falling over were scared of falling over so they wouldnt try… LOL[/quote]
were not kids anymore and dont need to crash to get better, we have brains to avoid crashing and still get better, you guys can go crash your cars while learning, im gonna try my best to learn without crashing too much 8)
eveyrone makes mistakes obviously, but when you try to do shit way out of your ability and you crash YOU ARE NOT COOL. YOU ARE A FU<KING TOOL.
everyone talks about how rich guys are idiots when they smash up their supercars, it is exactly the same here. just because you’re at the track and there are no cops doenst mean nothing bad can happen to you, if you drive too far outside your means you will fuck up. learning takes time and if you want to improve the fastest you actually learn best by being smooth and consistent, naturally you will get faster/more sideways, but if you try stupid ass shit you’re not going to improve it’ll just be a fluke if you dont spin or bomb off the track. Why do you think shannonville doen’st want us back anymore? IMMATURE DRIVING.
just take it easy guys, in high pressure situations people try to prove themselves and be heros sand we end up seeing people smashing their cars and fucking up their multi year investment with nothing but people around them saying “that sucks dude”
And now with this ziptied mentality that you’re not a baller unless you smash your car just has kiddies going around pushing as hard as they want, sometimes i think they hope they’ll crash so they can post on the internet how cool they are. holy shit its sickening.
your right, the only problem is that, like any kind of sport, or competition for that matter, everyone tries to do their best, some do stupid things, but the ones that dont go beyond there limits, should still go to their limits, because after all if your going to give a half assed showing, then you shouldnt go. And i guess at your limits is when most things can go wrong, so if you crash because you make a mistake then you dont deserve to be called a tool, but if your acting like a tool, thats a different story. Also i think the zipptied mentality is not really its cool to crash, its more, when your putting everything into what your doing, shit breaks and your probably not luckier than the next guy, so hope not to fuck up your car but be ready to deal with it if you have too
Im completely with this guy, he knows what im talking about. I posted my comments already, breaking shit while learning is normal, something like going into a corner retarded fast in front of the wall and thinking ‘i gotta push it to get better and/or win’ and not crashing is stupid, cause the guy that didnt win this round cause he didnt go as fast, he will win next time when you fuck yourself to shit thinking you can do the same thing, while the smarter learned to do it without crashing, properly.
Whenever you are trying something new, you run the risk of crashing. Whenever you push your car on the limit you run risk of crashing. I don’t see where idiot drivers come into this.
Vlad, sorry to say it. Its put up or shut up when it comes to rules in motorsports. In door to door racing, like tandem drifting, anything can happen. Guy spins, you try to avoid, bam you meet the wall. You don’t have to be pushing it, shit happens.
Yes DM has gone to rules following any other door to door racing such as CASC etc. They could be even stricter in this regard.
There will still be Jovers events and DM practices. When you can afford to complete, then you compete.
We will see quite quickly if this is the downfall of DM. I don’t think so, since there will still be a bunch of the Quebec guys competing, just like there will be bunch of Ontario guys showing to Jovers events. The main purpose of all this is to learn, enjoy the sport and further your driving skills.
I totally agree with you, and i said i liked the rollcage idea, and i never said its the downfall of DM or anything along the lines of that, I only argued against stupidity on track. Please read what I have to say before acusing me haha.
holy shit, stop making shit into politics… Its not a serious response to anything. Obviously you dont understand the sense of humor that comes form that saying.
sasha, your one to talk… youve banged up your car drifting more than once.
so does that mean your an idiot? and your a tool because you tried. people crash even doing stuff they can usuially do consistantly
your going to crash no matter what some point or another, thats if you want to progress faster than other people.
so fine if you dont be the best fucking dont try your hardest and take it easy
lol i dono it got way off topic and people have rage, yeah son is boring without a off-topic section, the reason were all discussing this like this is cause were not posting random stuff in the off-topic section lol
and i agree with you jesse to try your best to take it easy, finally someone sees the point of this
there is a difference between pushing at your limit and trying to improve and making a mistake
and going way overboard and doing something stupid
tank slapping into a wall should never happen. if you still sometimes tank you should not be sliding near a wall. ever. period. you just need more experiance, but people dont want to wait they want to push. they want to compete. they aren’t patient. then they smash their cars.
not knowing how to steer your car when it is spinning or rolling backwards is a sign of inexperiance. ho wmany guys have we seen in the past year spin out and WOULD HAVE BEEN OK if they locked the brakes, but instead rolled into a wall and smashed their cars? I have seen it over and over and over again.
im sorry i just hate hate hate seeing cars get wrecked. i know the feeling and it is so so so so so terrible like you just want to cry and you wish you could do it again you’re so pissed at yourself for making the mistake.
fact is we all make mistakes but we need to know our limit and stay there if we want to avoid terrible heart-ache. im not making it into politics so much as im just worried about you guys that are going out there and drifting where its really hard to be consistent because you cant get into a groove. you have to wait 20min to go and when its your turn you have t obe on the ball instantly even with all the pressure and desire to be the best.
long story short. its just not right when guys are out there competing in a drifting competition when they dont even know simple racing lines or heel-toe shifting. the basics behind motorsports, yet they are competing in some of hte most difficult driving imaginable. its only a matter of time before inexperiance catches up and smash.
more than the car saftey i think there should be some sort of driver requirements. a course perhaps, similar to a licence you need when you race door-to-door. a safe car is good, but wouldn’t it be nice not to have to use that roll cage to save your life?
1.) A DM Competition License will be required for all Drift Mania sanctioned competitions. A DM License shall not be required for Drift Classes, test & tune events and lapping days.
This way, if you want to compete, you know that everyone else on the track with you has a license, and has the skills necessary to be safe and competitive.
If you don’t want to commit and do all the work to your car, but you still want to practice, you can attend one of our practice days without a license. There will be no tandem drifting during these practice days to keep things as safe as possible. Just bring a helmet and you’re in!
one last thing, there is a difference between pushing yourself to crashing and pushing yourself to where your car is totaled. when i say crash i dont mean totaled, if its totaled you have failed, if you are going to get heart ache so much over totaling your car you should not be driving it on a race track hard, but then you should not be drifting either
