Two bikes, two days, same spot.
Spot is slightly off sir.
damnit, this thread makes me want to build an older bike…
Email/Sext me. I’ll find you something to tinker with…
or email me if you want something cooler but less reliable to tinker with.
That’ll leak oil, can’t forget that.
I have bikes with all of those attributes AND British engineering too. Beat that! Seriously though, I’ve been thinking of selling the Bonneville and buying something else so if you’re interested let me know.
Price?
just stop by my place haha.
@focusinprogress and myself have been working on a cafe CB550 for a friend of mine, turned out decent:
Will be getting wrapped up this week, stoked considering how quickly it came together.
is '82 old enough? I just picked this up last fall, after selling my Honda CB-1 for $1500 I bought this '82 suzuki GS650GL for $750. It needed a new battery and the carbs needed a good cleaning. I changed out the original rams horn handle bars for a more comfortable set of bars. This spring I just put two new tires on it and I might try to modify the seat and a couple of other things.
Finally put my 93 FZR back together enough to ride.
What is vintage? 25 years?
Still needs some more carb tuning. I don’t like carb tuning.
It’s not so much the tuning part as it is the removed everything to get to them part.
I also hate that so many phillips screws are made of butter on this bike.

Believe the rule of thumb is 1970’s and older.
Nice to see more people on two though!
I put Mikuni’s on my 74 CB (CL) 450. Tuning when my point kit arrives, among other things.
I think i finally got this figured out. Probably not.
Maybe i’ll post a pic when I get back from traveling.
Most of the problems I had with my carbs, were the needle jet/emulsion tubes, float height, sync, vacuum leaks on my dry rot carb boots, shitty gas and o-rings…
Once I worked all that out, it still feels too rich.
Probably need to bump up the floats another mm and/or mess with the idle a/f screws some more.
Well this certainly isn’t vintage as it’s a 2001 but it’s basically the same as an '85 model haha. I picked up this completely stock 2001 Honda Rebel 250 in February and had @BREETIME do things to it. It’s a great beginner bike but I will most likely get something bigger for next season.
Let’s rideeeeeeeeeeee.
Best $150 I ever spent was on a innovate mtx-l wideband for tuning my quad after I did the big bore. Instead of spending hours and days on reading plugs and guessing I had it tuned in an afternoon. Most of that time was spent taking stuff off to get to the carbs. You can jet all you want and think you got it but without actually seeing true a/f ratio you really have no idea whats going on.

Like you will do anything with it…
I’ll try to keep up!
