my winter car failed etest, twice actaully, is a subaru with swapped motor. don’t want to spend more money on fixing it, anyone on board can help me? please pm me asap.
Change spark plugs, air filter and spray Throttle Body Cleaner while keeping it at lowest rpm possible. Make sure you have clean oil and fresh, good gas.
That’s basically first steps with any car, then drive the car hard for 20min and don’t turn it off until the test is done. If that doesn’t help then results of your failed test can point you to the problem that you might have.
GOOD LUCK!
how’s your cat looking?
well what did it fail on? how bad?
Fat and orange.
lol at the cat!
on serious note, i’ve done everything adam mentioned plus a bottle of those garentee to pass and alcohol on the second try. it made the 2500rpm test pass but still failed idle test by large.
i did search about hot rod test but when i went to this canadian tire at markham rd and 14th ave, the guy didn’t know what i was talking about. help me out please if you know which place do the hot rod test or other methods!
you obviously dont tip well enough if your car failed
A hot rod test only works if the car has a diffent displacement. I would say try changing the catalytic converter.
it is a different displacement swap, the guy there just didn’t know or never heard of a hot rod test. which place would know about it??? my cat is stock, factory oem cat.
someone correct me if im wrong
go to a subaru delearship and ask them for papers that say your car is a hot rod, pretty sure this is what other ppl have done
they will look under the hood and see if there is a different engine in it and they will give you the papers
retard the timing, it helped mine to pass. it runs cooler. but thats if its failing the nox part of it
you want to get the cat hotter not cooler. the hotter it is, the more shit it burns off.
ok, but thats what helped mine
