2.0T’s suck. I wouldn’t do that if you paid me.
The later TSI versions Are great. And they have been making real good power.
the car has had ALOT of stuff replaced…most likely beats the piss out of it…IMHO i would stay away
Power + VW = juat?
What’s the point in making tons of power if you’re only going to drive to a parking lot and shoot the shit?
Or your car is so slammed it becomes a hassle to drive it.
Or you just bought it to have a German engineered grocery getter in which case making power is pointless.
You make all the power to get to the parking lot faster DUH
I love how everyone just associates Vw people with hanging out in parking lots. It’s as if all those miata douches who slam the fuck out of them then go to a parking lot only talk and brag about how low they are as if them doing it is somehow different from everyone else. Vw kids aren’t the only ones who slam their cars. Honestly being super low and hanging out in parking lots is WAY cooler than kids who “track prep” their Miatas/evo/STI/whatever/even vw’s then go talk about how track ready it is, bur have never tracked/dragged/even hit WOT or anything. That’s way worse.
I know tons of people who track their vw’s, drag them, autoX them or do whatever.
I’d rather be uncool and keep driving Vw’s then buy the flavor of the month car or any BMW like everyone else.
Om topic: again this Probably isn’t a good trade.
yea but VW has always sucked this isn’t something new
I thought the DSG’s were decent? Since when are they garbage?
I’d rather sit by a Vw waiting for a tow then drive any domestic vehicle.
cool
Yea that’s news to me too. I knew mk5 R32’s were having some issues but didn’t know it was across the board.
Yeah but you and I both know that FSI =/= TFSI.
I lol’d at this.
I’m not aware of DSGs being so problematic, and I own one with over 100k on it.
True. The 09+ 2.0T is what you want, if you want a Vw/Audi. Timing chain, high pressure fuel pump that ia way better.
If I remember correctly the issue was not with the actual trans, but with the transmission control unit. There was a recall on them, but if it hasn’t been done by now the car may not have been in the defective production batch and if you have a problem will likely have to fight with a Vw dealer to get it taken care of if at all without paying.
We used to fill crates with half a dozen at a time… save shipping those shit bag gear boxes back for cores.
Lol, VWs
weird, I’ve been hanging out in vortex’s A3 forum for a couple years now and don’t recall any cases of failure…
I had my DSG fluid changed earlier this year so I guess we will see how it goes, my DSG box has survived the 3 engines this car has gone through without issue.
Those and CVT boxes…
im kind of torn on this one, looks like i i could get it for 4.5k…lets say my car is worth 10k…which i duno i cant even getr anyone to come look at it.
On the note of DSGs. I’ve heard the first few years of them blew chunks.
Supposed to be pretty well sorted now.
In which case it’s not a awful deal. But ask yourself if you really want yhe GTI. If you plan on parting it and returning it to stock thats gonna require spending money on parts to hopefully (eventually) sell other stuff.
Its not as bad of a deal if you just do the trade and drive it as is.
