I think you Should look at bikes that have a few scratchs on it… I started riding last year took the MSF course and passed with flying colors got a great deal on a ZX7R and slid it into a guard rail…
you probibly will drop it (not becouse your a girl) just in general. altho you should get on the WNYSPORTRIDERS.ORG Forum ask around.
its a 2004 yellow/black gsxr 600… with carbon fiber yosh rs3 pipe… asking 6k… i think its in carolinas somewhere… comes with stock pipe to… looks like a smoking deal…
regardless of the msf course, i wouldnt’ recommend an r6 or a gixxer for your first bike.
i’d recommend more like;
yamaha yzf600 or fzr600
suzuki- katana 600 or gsx-f 600
kawi -ninja 600e or old 600r
honda; cbr600 f2 or f3
not saying because you’re a girl. saying because even a 600, at high rpm’s is a LOT of bike. also, are you tall enough to ride one of these, or will you lower it?
also willybeen has his girlfriend’s old bike. f4. i believe it already has an adjustbale rear shock
I’m also looking for a bike; but I’ve ridden before although I never got my license; when’s everyone taking the MSF; I’m defenetly taking it, and it’d be great to have some people I know there too.
You think wrong Jay I bought a brand new GSXR 750 in 2002 for my very first bike. No MSF course, almost 0 riding experience. All i heard was, OMG youre gonna drop it, youre gonna crash, youre gonna kill yourself, its the end of the world, etc :blah:
Never dropped it. Rode it and had a blast with it, and in the end i was realllllly glad i got the 750 right off the bat, because as i got better i grew into using more of the bikes potential, instead of having to sell some cheesy starter bike and start looking for another one all over again.
I think if she takes the course, and takes it slow in the beginning she’ll be just fine. And IMO no reason to buy a slower bike that would get gay after about a month because the one you really want is not the one you got. The bike only goes as fast as the driver lets it.
Oh and thats a good idea on the MSF thing, you guys should get a few of you in on it to go together, I think it would make it more fun to have a few speeders there to talk to
I had my new F3 back in '99 that I rode, and i “dropped” it… LOL… not riding it, but walking it out of the garage, the kickstand caught the bottom rail of the garage door and moved back just past center; so when I went to set the bike back on the stand, it collapsed in, and the bike and I tipped over in the driveway; LOL.
Where’s everyone going for bike INS? I called Geico and they wanted $2300 for a '03 R6; Progressive wants almost $1K.
some guy once told me he’d rather be the guy on a 250cc and be able to out carve the guys on the 1k’s, than vice versa…
speed is not all there is to a bike… how many ppl will learn to be agile on their bike, if they’re limiting the bike’s potential??
although it’s different for everyone, it may have worked for you… but the general consensus is get a smaller bike to learn on, and push the bike’s limit, and not let the bike push your limit…
i’m pretty sure i’m taking the MSF in Hamburg the 1st week in June. I’m gonna call today. It’s 275$. I’ll let the people who want to take it know because it’d be nice to know some ppl.
and i’m 5’8" sooo i think i should be ok? right? lol
