WTF do i do now v. manifold fitment

ummmm take a look at these two pics and tell me if u see something wrong…

so, theres no way to just remove the studs from one side and just drill the holes out, because if i did that on the manifold, i would be drilling int to the middle of the manifold. likewise on the turbo, i would be drilling through the turbine housing.

i was thinking of seeing if i can grind away some material from the turbine housing so that i could drill through and use the studs from the manifold to bolt it up, but i dont even know if i have enough room or material lee-way to do that.

worst comes to worst, i need to get a new turbine housing, but im not too keen on that at the moment.

suggestions?

blank response?

does that mean im an idiot and theres nothing wrong here?

am i just having a blank morning?

remove the studs from the turbine housing, drill the holes larger, use nuts and lock washers. Done

don, look closely, if i were to do that, i would be drilling into the turbine housing.

edit: see something like this

would be a solution. not really trying to buy something from australia tho. but if could find something like that it would work. but as i said earlier, i want to work with what i have.

adapter?

u want to get those studs out? i use acetolene and vise grips. works great

not to be a dick, but read the thread

Don, im having trouble thinking of how i would make an adapter for that

so in this picture, http://linux.forcedperformance.net/merchant2/graphics/00000001/full/GT28R004_full.jpg
you can see that there MAY be some space for me to dig out some material and get a nut in there, but it also looks like the inlet is a little more elevated on that turbo(its a garret gt28 i think). well see what i can later

make 2 flanges flanges, then put a short section of pipe between them , leave just enough room to run some bolts into both the turbo and the manifold

thats not a bad idea, although i dont want the turbo to sit down too low, so ill have to measure it out.

also, if i do this with mild steel and mig weld it, will it be strong enough to not crack?

cause if it gets to a certain cost point, ide rather just get a new turbine housing

gave up and bought a new turbine housing off a guy on sr20forum.com
