I got 16 with my 6 cyl jeep cherokee beating the daylights out of it, 18-19 out of my mustang gt 4.6 beating the daylights out of it, driving normally in my toyota tacoma v6 I got 16-17 or 14-15 with the 35 inch mud tires I had on it
Now with my daily driver which is an 05 cavalier 5 speed, I get 33 normal driving, I run the A/C alot but I don’t drive it that fast usualy shift around 3k. I usually use marathon 87 octane in it. I sometimes get sunoco 87 but it has ethanol and that usually kills my mileage. Sometimes use sheetz 87 and haven’t notice much difference with that. Also take into mind kittanning has next to no traffic so I spend very little time sitting in traffic.
Man some sucky fuel mileage posted in this thread. My current daily driver, 95 automatic 4 door integra with 112K on it gets 30 around town and my previous 91 civic 4-door which was a manual got around 35 ish around town with basicallty zero maintenance on it even with 150K. Hell even my rediculously rich running mid 12 sec all-motor honda gets around 15 mpg.
there’s the sentence that makes your entire post irrelevant. Delivering pizza 100 miles a day is nothing like putzing around Kittanning on empty roads.
i drive most of my miles IN traffic. When I finally get it out on the highway, I’ll post up my mileage. I’m expecting high-twenties, maybe even thirty mpg.
i’ve gotten 410 miles to a 14 gal tank 410/14 = 29.3
so there is all your 30mpg that you’re all quoting… but i live in sq hill and work downtown and my garage is 25 miles from sqhill… so i put anywhere from 15 to 70 miles a day… mostly traffic… this is where i see 20 and lower MPG.
My 35 mpg in my old car was when I was in law school commuting back and forth from Monongahela to Duquesne every day. At least half of that commute was in shit traffic each day.
Hondas are excepted from the laws of Physics due to negative torque figures.
(lol…i’m just kidding… but i distinctly remember that i never had a Honda that got less than 30mpg, including the oil-burning Prelude…and none of them could go uphill in any gear higher than second…)
mon to duq is only a fraction of my drive… but yeah… i know what you mean… i’d think a N/A 2.0 honda would get better milage than a turbo’d 1.8… dunno though.
amoco is what i would idealy like to run but i just gas where its convienient. Having a gas Hogg v8 i can’t get picky on where i get it. But i always run 93. I get close to 19 mpg city in my 87 blazer daily driver (3.4L GMPP crate).
You have to remember, this is delivering pizza in traffic. I would expect that completely while doing that.
My comute to work is about 28 miles one direction. My old 93 Integra got a ave of 33mpg per tan k on 87 octane. But it was mostly highway miles down 51. Even when I beat the piss out of that car I still got like 27mpg.
My SRT I get a solid 25 mixed driving. Ive managed 30 on highway driving.
Down in Myrtle Beach I got 17mpg in city driving with the AC on so it really depends on your driving style/conditions.
you want to get your gas from a station that does a lot of business and gets fresh gas very often. while you might think it’s good to support the mom + pop gas shops, gas ages in the tank + it’s not as good.
I gotta say I’m amazed. In my beater '89 MazDUH B2200 I can’t get below 22mpg for a tank. I put shit 87 in it too. I beat the shit out of it (pretty much have to) and hit a pretty good amount of stop 'n go traffic. Oh, and there’s like 300+lbs. of my race wheels/tires living in the bed. It has a Camper shell that’s probably 150lbs or something which probably helps mileage on the freeway but in all the traffic I hit the weight hurts it I’m sure. When I run around w/ the bed empty I get like 24-25 mpg (yeah I know… take the crap outta the bed already).
In my Camaro I average around 18. But to be fair that’s a pretty equal mix of Freeway, City, and beat down. I’ve done 29mpg cruising 85-90mph on the freeway. Shit, last tank through the car I drove the 120ish miles to the AutoX, raced all weekend (2 drivers on Sat. and 2 run groups w/ just me driving Sun.) then drove home. Still averaged over 20mpg on a “Racing” tank.
I don’t get it. I mean my MazDUH is a tired, high mileage, poor running (at the moment) pile and I beat the snot out of it and can’t get worse than 22. And that’s a carbed 2.2L. WTF.
man i thought the vr6 was bad on gas. i get about 17-22 mpg depending on how i drive. and i think i do the same type of driving as you. i rarely go on the parkway. def get stuck in traffic on forbes and fifth ave and around oakland/eastend area.
i get about 27 mpg on the highway cruising around 75-80 mph.
so for a 130hp cyl i think you should get a little more mpg than youre getting now. I bet its probably the hills thats keeping you mpg low. or the fact thats its a suckzuki. J/K
