You can't get aids from fucking a hooker with a garbage bag....odyssey of a SC400

ebay holmes. they sell them mad expensive but if you search for a universal one there is a place selling them for like $65

I got a nautical themed Pashmina afghan.

if you on the shore, then you sho not me-oh.

nice. i’ll prob get my 3" straight exhaust and 10mm spacers first but after that i might get one.

So I was thinking of something the other day:

Recently I have had some deep conversations about suspension geometry and such with Sosideways. This is what we consider entertaining on those long boring days of sitting at a desk. We discussed a few of the companies out there that produce coilovers and shocks and such. I also got into a discussion on this topic with alex pfeiffer of battle version and formula D fane as he is trying to run an SC300 for next season.

You Nissan guys get more out of your coilovers because that is where you get some of your camber adjustment and such as well. Us JZZ chassi drivers don’t get that, we just get a threaded body shock and spring combo. The dampers are usually XX-way adjustable and thats about it. Now most of the “cheaper” companies out there are not rebuildable or re-valvable they just swap out your coilover if something goes wrong and charge you a fee.

Now one cool thing us SC guys do get to use is the JZA80 Supra suspension. Namely we can use their OEM shocks and springs to net about a .5" cause we share many of the same suspension components but for some reason the Supra shocks are shorter buy design than the SC. Probly has to do with a luxury versus sports set up.

Currently I am running JZA80 Tokico shocks with JZA80 Vogtland springs. This would net a static 1.2" drop on the Supra but nets about a 1.7" drop on my car. I am more than happy with this but the tokico are bsically throw away if one blows and have no dampening adjustment. I also need my car to be about 3/4-1/2" lower just to delete some wheel well gap. Much lower and my aero will literally be touching the ground.

Here is what my new plan is. Rather than paying $800 for a sub-par set of coilovers with springs that are of a general design in load and tension like most coilovers now have become or spend $2000 on a set of race coilovers that even on full soft jar the teeth out of my head, I am going to purchase a tuned spring shock combo.

Shocks that have been discussed and seem to be race proven are Koni yellow or bilstein HD. The Bilsteins seem to have more positive reviews as well as race proven history. I hear that konis adjustment is more noticable click to click rather than 32 ways of “i think theres a difference”. These two companies are also designed for lower springs and suggext companies Like Eibach, H&R, Sprint and yellow line I believe. So i searched through the following companies and looked at their springs.

Sprint has a spring for the JZA80 that is a 1.8" drop this would net me a guranateed 1/2"+ lower drop i wanted, with a shock that is not only widely known for being rebuildable but can also have valving tuned to the customers needs. Down the road if i decided that I needed to go lower bilstein shocks also accept a threaded shock body adapter to make them a coilover, though i do not think it will be necessary.

Total cost of this project should be about $650 when i get around to it

hey look Dave, Pete “gear head joints”

shes got a single twin sister, rite?

you’ll be happy with the koni yellows if you go that route! ive ridden in a car with them and it was great ride quality… although for me koni’s are an insert… you cut up the existing shock and add what koni sends you… not sure if its the same for you or not though.

koni yellows are a remarkable strut for any application

Are Koni yellows height adjustable? That’s all that Ron needs.

Koni yellows have a removable lower spring perch. This makes it to where you can make them height adjustable to an extent
