why is it that everyone says it’s hard to get parts for an SR and that you’ll wait 3-4 weeks for parts from japan??? if you know about nissan’s you should know that the early 90’s b-13 sentra came with an sr and you can get “most” engine parts from napa. but if you want jdm tightness then you can wait 3-4 weeks! i like going to napa and having my sr parts in 1-2 days.
i’m not saying you need an SR swap ka-t’s are just as good if you build them right. i just hate that everyone says if you have an sr you have to wait 3-4 weeks for parts…not true look harder and stop being lazy.
Yeah SR parts are easy to get. RB’s on the other hand are still difficult to get quickly, but getting better.
Wallace, are you going to start a build thread or post some pics of your car?
Why does everyone think replacement parts for the SR20 are a pain in the ass?
I’ve never had any problem finding parts for my SR20… maybe some serious aftermarket turbo parts… but in terms of maitnence… theres no problem finding parts…
people that havent owned/worked on an SR20 always think there MADD JDM HARD TO FIND PARTs… not at all…
Theres a lot of aftermaket parts that are easy to get as well… but yes if you want reallyyyyy good JDM shit your goign to have to order from overseas
get an SR20DE you can prolly find one with low miles from a junkyard for 400 bucks like I got mine in the G20 2 years ago with 50kmi on it…
and a 2 year warantee although it expired now so if i blow it i have to buy another one
SR20>KA
I just argue Ka cause they are cheaper and stouter.
Ka’s can easily make good power and you can beat the piss out of them.
For your rust problem just get sides skirts and over fenders. that will cover it all up
Yeah I’d build a KA-T before I go SR. But we don’t need to start another thread about this, lol
truth
however I would argue cost of sr vs ka until I’m blue in the face lol
My sr was very cost effective haha
And while its hidden by skirts and fiberglass quarters itll continue to rot away and become a bigger problem… Fix it the right way… dont hide it
yea i might start a build thread for my car but i don’t really have anything else to do to. i’ll post up some pics and parts list anyways.
there both good motors and yea the ka is strong but the sr is lighter and already has a turbo = saves a lil bit of money.i built my 240 coupe for around $5,500 with synapse mani putting out 250rwhp.
omfg here we go again…
but wait your telling him to get a non turbo sr. 135hp(same as sohc ka) and less tourqe? not to mention the wiring involed.
just get a dohc or sohc ka for now, since i know you dont have alot of money.
KA>SR bitch
i’m interested in the ka that ErnGotti has got, i don’t know how far putting a turbo will go for now, i wanna get the rust spots taken car of before i start worrying about a turbo, i also wanna 1) put so decent springs on it (don’t wanna go with coil overs cause i prolly won’t drift much) 2) get a damn motor, 3) i’m thinking Brm or Maganaflow exhaust
BRM uses Magnaflow
But yeah BRM sounds sweet with a resonator in it, that’s what I got
o ha yea i had no idea, the one’s i’ve heard haven’t sounded too bad
Because even if he got a stock sr20de for 300-400 bucks and then found the turbo stuff later it would still be cheaper than turboing a ka… And the torque differance is minimal at best so as far as im concerned thats not even a strong arguement… And yet again sr20 powerband > ka
i didn’t think you could put a sr20de into a 240 can you…being thats its a fwd motor? just wondering.
no cars over here came Sr20de RWD. so chances are, he’s not finding one. There are alot of people though (have NO clue y) go from dohc KA to NT Sr20. maybe the “turbo it later factor” idk.
Plain and simple:
~Leave the KA choice in car.
~when and IF you have extra money to think abuot boost/swap then do it.
~i know he’s like most people here and dont have a couple grand to blow out his ass at the moment.
Yes mackensie, Sr rpms>KA. still the KA is a stout motor, that can take ALOT of abuse if taken care of( goes for alot of motors)
In conclusion, I love my KA.
please tell me where you can find a complete Non turbo swap for a SR for 3-400. if so, im gunna make alot of $$ of this.
:hug
yea thats what i thought. thanks for the info.
Is it just me or doesnt it seem wrong to put a smaller motor in?
To me its like pulling a 350 and putting a 305 in.
Id like to see somebody drop a small block Chevy/Ford/Mopar/whatever into one of these things.
