350 z goes down tonight

Did you mean to quote me? If you did, I was referencing a 350z, in which case you would definitely be well on your way to a built motor if it made any type of power. That’s what I was getting at. Well, that and how stupid his blanket statement of how to make a 350z a fast car was ridiculous. Trust me, I know that there are a lot of seriously capable cars out there that don’t need ripped into from the factory, regardless of origin or brand :bigthumb:

I’m quoting shit that I’ve seen run firsthand. Benchracing is theory, what I’ve seen is fact. Also, because the car is owned by the shop that tuned my car and I am friends with the guys that own the shop, yes they are my “buddies”. Btw, 1200 rwhp is goood enough for 8’s. The 350z I’m speaking of ran that 9.35 on one if it’s first times to the track, it probably has run 8’s since, but I didn’t keep up with it cause it’s not my ride. The rest of your first paragraph is not worth responding to cause it wasn’t worth you typing it.

The difference of changing engine vs. building one is that you’re putting a different motor in the car than what it originally came with. Then it just comes down to putting the most powerful engine in the lightest and most aerodynamic ride. It just becomes a pointless conversation until someone decides to put some 8.0L engine in a motorcycle (I’m exaggerating, but you get the point).

A ls9 will hold more boost b/c the cylinder walls are a hell of a lot thicker than the ls7. The ls9 block was designed to work under those conditions, the ls7 was not. That’s not saying you can’t put a turbo or sc the ls7, it is simply has less potential due to its build. We’ll agree to disagree on this one.

Since you’re obviously concerned about semantics, please tell me how stupid my “blanket statement” was?!? Also, please explain what a fast car is in your opinion? I’m not sure if you have a reading problem or what your deal is. To repeat myself for the third time, I mentioned that there are basic performance upgrades that can be done to a 350Z, which I’m sure will get it to the low 13’s, maybe even 12’s with the right driver. Yes, you can build the engine (this is optional as I’ve read that the stock internals on a 350z can take about 500 rwhp), go with a pair of nice turbos, fuel system, etc. I’m also aware that a lot of cars can take more power than a 350z without having to rip into the internals… I drive one of them. Although, you would probably say otherwise b/c I had to put a fuel system on my car to support the larger turbo.

back to the 350z, It’s still a girlie ride.

^^I guess I can see that. Put it right behind an Eclipse and a Celica.

1200rwhp is good for 8’s. unless its in a supra, then its good for 10’s at 150mph (sarcasm with a hint of truth).

IDK, I stopped subscribing to the ‘my friend has a friend has a buddy has a friend with a 6 second street car’ theory a long time ago, so I’m very skeptical anytime somebody rattles that crap off. Not saying it isn’t true, but I’ll be damned if I’m not hooked up to the same internet as the next guy with a google search. Blame SVTPerformance for that. Nothing personal

I’m not sure what to say other than I don’t think a 13/14 second car is fast? Hell, the first post in this thread says it all.

There are a whole bunch of things I could say, but honestly they have no bearing on your own well formed opinions which differ from mine. We just see things differently, that’s all.

FWIW, I know you’re right & wrong about a few things that you said, notably the LS9 vs LS7 argument does hold some water

as for your point of 8.0 in a motorcycle it has been done. its called the tomahawak. viper v10 in a bike

the cylinderwalls arent the issue bud. The LS motors arent hondas you dont have to worry about stock cylinder walls and boost. The issue becomes head thickness and only 4 bolt heads. Production GM blocks have seen over 1500hp, many see 900-1000 hp easy

I understand your skepticism. Somewhat true about the Supras too, I saw J.P. run a 9.99 @157 mph, pretty much going down the track sideways. A little more tire fixed that problem nicely for him though. I don’t think a 13/14 second street car is particularly fast either, I don’t have everyone’s post memorized which is why I asked you (too lazy to go the thread again). Hell I’ve run high 10’s consistently in my car and it’s getting boring, luckily there’s a lot left in my combination. Here’s a link to my tuner’s (Sound Performance) 350Z… it’s not a pretty run, but the announcer is very excited! :tool: They’re out in Chicago, specialize on 2jz’s, but pretty much work on everything else from mercedes to vipers to lsx motors.

[ame=“http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-f1fjak5JXQ&feature=player_embedded”]YouTube - SP’s 350z goes 9.35@158mph!![/ame]

:gives:

^^ Who gives a fuck that you don’t?

seriously… no one cares about your opinion or what your fucking tuner’s car runs. :tool:

i just read the last two pages…it made me punch myself in the face. thanks for the stupidity MKIVlife

  • obviously don’t know where the industry was ten years ago

Hell I’ve run high 10’s consistently in my car and it’s getting boring, luckily there’s a lot left in my combination. ’

  • if 10’s are boring show me slips and find a new hobby.

  • you go to chitown for tuning. da fuck.

My buddy has a 3.8 street car, you may know it, a mustang, his names john.

Sorry guys, I shouldn’t have posted that video. It was out of place. I should have posted it on a car enthusiasts forum… maybe if the topic of a 350z had come up. I’m really disappointed with some of the people that troll this place. There’s more close minded ignorance here than I’ve see on other car specific/posterboy forums. And Dan, I don’t care much for opinions of people I don’t personally know either. All Motor, please punch yourself in the face again.

Pancho, I know how cars have been. Regardless of comparison at any time, I still don’t think 13/14 second cars are fast. I would show you slips but then I’d just get more intelligent replies from Dan and company. I’m not proud of my car running 10.8-10.9’s… I’m still working out some bugs with the nitrous and launch and I should be able to shave a second off my e.t. I also split seat time with my dad in his super stock Camaro for the past 10 years, it ran low to mid 9’s, so high 10’s does feel much slower to me. Yes, I go to Chicago for my tuning. No one in this area has much experience with tuning Supras, so I go to SP. Larry Prebis is one of the better aem tuners in the country, plus my sister lives out there so it’s not that bad. I don’t know if you’re quoting a movie with the 3.8 street car comment… I don’t know who you’re talking about.

There are decent people here and alot of useful information. You just have to wade through/ignore alot of bullshit to get to it- but that’s part of the charm of the site.

who’s ur daddy & what kind of super stocker does he have? post some pics of it & toss in some of ur sis!:bigthumb:

ill punch myself again, if you promise to never post again. k?

was you at PRP for king of streets? just curious cause i seen a dark red/maroonish supra automatic running mid 11s at 122 mph. Wil lgive credit to who owns it. looked very smooth running

Yeah, I just wanted to check out the local scene and see who was out there. I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised by some of the comments, there are people like that on every board.

He had a SS/DA 69 Camaro with a 427. Sold it last season after running it for over 15 years. Here’s the only pic. I have of it… sorry I don’t actually have any pics on my computer of my sis… thread has gone way off topic now.

Ren. red is the color and that was me. I encoutered a few problems that I could not fix at the track unfortunately. I couldn’t use any nitrous on that first pass and halfway down the track, my boost fell from 25 lbs. down to 14.5 lbs. Actually, I haven’t even looked at it since Sunday cause I’m a bit disgusted with it right now.

Real clean fast/car for sure, I saw it running last week too.
