A hard look at the `street racing' law

link?

What is even stranger is that i can totally appreciate the logic behind this.

It is 100% the same as the WSIB’s campaign to increase fines to businesses who experience workplace incidents instead of helping them get safer.

On a per capita basis both accidents per person have increased as have fines. That is statistically a positive correlation between fines and accidents. So what does the WSIB do to combat workplace accidents?

They levy EVEN MORE fines. It is a fabricated arms race that is totally acceptable because if you oppose fining (punishing) deviant businesses you are therefore politically opposed to workplace safety.

In much the same way that you are against freedom, democracy or against the troops if you dont “support them” with that yellow faggot ribbon.

The issue is not the troops, its the war. The issue is not workplace safety, it is the fines. The issue is not the police or road safety, it is the law that is the problem.

Politically speaking, how could you oppose it? It’s like trying to pass a bill through congress about the war in iraq and tacking on a tax reduction for seniors at the last second.

If you vote against the war you also vote against tax reductions for seniors. Come election time you get it held against you in a $500,000 campaign add funded by our money.

If you oppose this law as a politician and traffic fatalities increase, you are some how responsible.

the best part is that Dalton Mcguinty and this dude in teh article who was gung-ho about the bill and anyone else pro-$10,000 fines know full well that this law is a sham.

They understand that no one can oppose it because of the reasons mentioned above. And since no one can oppose it it can be used as a political missile. Because it will actually get done and it justifies the position of the politicians involved.

It is difficult to oppose, earns tons of cash, will get passed, you can put your name on it = win win for politicians.

It’s exactly like how on SON some people think we should rearrange all the for sale sections so that we have a new section for OEM parts, suspension parts, cars, stereo…etc etc…

it doesnt actually do anything or make the forum any better… it simply justifies a position and lets someone say they did something.

Fuck that shit, and Fuck this law
