Aids Vaccine?

Ascending into world superiority?

umm dont we do this all the time anyway? cough iraq cough

Like, perhaps, a yellow 6 pt star?

exactly why you can’t do this. Then in the public’s eye you are “choosing a side” thus making someone evil. There is no win/win situation. Yes a vaccine to help people with AIDS is a great thing. How can you deny AIDs infected people a vaccine? Just as many people have STD’s that have AIDS. We don’t say no to people with STD’s…

PS and even as i type this i have the fry/matter feeling of ah fuck it…

Lets say we start tagging everyone with AIDS. Are you going to feel safer sleeping around without rubbers and sharing needles, or is everything going to be exactly the fucking same since a lack of a tag could just mean they aren’t diagnosed yet? Well, it’ll be exactly the fucking same except that the person dying of a disease also gets to live with the government mandated “defective” tag.

Fuck, lets just brand a scarlet A on the forehead of everyone with AIDS. Or better yet, lets take everyone with AIDS and move them to a deserted island in the Pacific.

We really do need to stop curing diseases. We should have left smallpox and polio alone. The world would be a better place now if they had burned through the population without our interference. God knows the bubonic plage was a God-send. Fucking indoor plumbing put an end to the greatest thing to happen to humanity since fire and brimstone rained down on Sodom and Gomorrah.

EDIT: :bloated:

well, there was that one president w/a crippling disease… :stuck_out_tongue:

Just stop trying to make sense.

well, there was that one president w/a crippling disease… :P…[/QUOTE]

Which was, in fact, polio.

As for this vaccine, I’m not sure if tampering with genetics the way that this OP article describes is the way to go. On one hand, activating a gene may be beneficial, but on the other hand, activating that gene may have unintended consequences.

It happened with the Africanized “killer” bees, and it could be an issue with humans. And for those that don’t know, cancer is caused by abnormal gene regulation.

There’s a theory that the AIDS outbreak was caused by the Polio vaccine. I guess a lot of the early testing of the Polio vaccine was done in central Africa with a vaccine that was grown on Monkey tissue. There’s no hard evidence, but there is enough time/location coincidence to make a strong case for a Simian virus to have tainted some of the vaccines and mutated in a way that allowed it to thrive in humans.

anyone seen the movie “Outbreak”?

deadly diseases aren’t going anywhere. that shit really happens.

Never saw Outbreak, but I read Hot Zone. Pretty scary that Ebola actually popped up in Virginia. Oops. Good thing it was the 1/4 strains that doesn’t liquify humans’ innards. That could have been ugly.

What’s Outbreak about?

Basically same shit as all of the epidemic movies, but not as much social dissent.

When a disease in Africa is discovered, Colonel Sam Daniels of the United States Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases or USAMRIID, is sent to investigate. When he reports back to his superior officer General Ford and tells him that they should put out an alert on this disease but the General that since the disease is so far away and not airborne that it can’t possibly reach the U.S. However, a monkey from that part of Africa was captured and brought to the U.S. and a man who works at the customs house took it and tried to sell it but when the person he tried to sell it to rejected it he released it. Later the man who arrived in Boston collapses and dies, Col. Daniels wants to look into it but General Ford denies his request so he turns to his ex-wife, who works at the Center for Disease Control or CDC to look into and they discover it’s the African disease but since it kills very quickly, Col. Daniels feels that it’s been contained until another outbreak!

I thought if you drank bleach it would fix the AIDS…

Explain where this came from plz, I was referring to their population control policies.

You can’t compare aids to any of those you just mentioned, the diseases you brought up we’re airborn. While aids has to come from direct contact from someone with the disease. :touchy:

I’m not saying I disagree with anyone receiving the vaccine, just the fact that if it is readily available it may create a false sense of safety which in fact is how aids spread the way that it did. If not Aids another will start, sometimes people need to learn. I’ll be the first to admit, i’ve had my fair share of girls I had sex with. However I was careful as I could have been while doing so.

If we cured every un-curable(is that a word?) disease that there is, another one will work it’s way into society one way or another. That’s proven itself time and time again.

Of note, do you know how many viral diseases we can cure?

Ans: zero.
