figured as much. Are the AEB’s different? I thought I head they were, but I havent looked into the AEB’s for to long so I dont really know.
holset jetta!
I have a lead on a sick cyclinder head for sale: AEB, ported/polished, Schrick solid lifter conversion, +1 valves, custom cams. 3kmi on the head. built by haywardperformance.com. Supports 10KRPM! working the deal right now with the guy.
This is as crazy a cyclinder head as it gets for a 20V vw.
Have some RMR 4" D shaped plenum material and msc aluminum for the back plate and TB plate coming. AEB stock mani for the runners on its way.
1.5" .095 DOM coming for the cage this afternoon.
going this afternoon to take the rest of the fluids out of it, and the front clip off. If I ahve time, take the dash out too.
are you going to get the IE timing gear/dowel kit for the crank? ARP crank bolt?
what rods this run around? Brute or the IE Tuscan rods? or are you staying 86.4 crank, with stock 144mm rods?
yeah I prolly should get the dowel pin kit for the crank. ARP crank bolt? what do you mean?
Bottom end is staying the same. No need to change that out. JE 8.5’s, IE 144’s and stock crank. they sould hold just fine for the power levels we are lookin for.
I picked up that solid lifter AEB too. should be here next week. stoked on that. AEB intake and RMR parts are coming too so I can weld up a manifold. also got a 75MM throttle body off a 3.6L passat for $50.
-
IE got ARP to make a bolt for the timing gear, which is included in the dowel kit.
-
didnt know if you were going stroker or not.
-
sick head, who did you get it from, 75mm is perfect, cant beat the price.
Did the world just implode??? You and I are agreeing on something! holy shit! :thumbup
uno- Sweet, I didnt know it had the bolt too. Beats the shit out of the stupid 12 pt thing they have on there stock I hope.
dos -Nahh dont wana spend any more money on the bottom end. The money could be better spend on suspension or what ever else IMO. yeah the 80mm is too big and didnt have enough gains to justify the poor throttle response and all. I got it becasue they guy broke the plastic connector the clip, clips into to hold it on. I can either swap the back plate from one i have laying around or just epoxy it on, either way beats $150-400 for one!
trice- Ilovett is his user name on the tex. FS: Schrick Solid Lifter Conversion 20V AEB head- Ported Polished Machined, 10,500rpm PICS | VW Vortex - Volkswagen Forum
he just had a rough time tuning his stand alone stuff in canada. tec3 or something he said he was running. then the bottom end let go somehow and he ditched the project. head was built by a intake/cylinder head specialist in canada, they do a lot of ITB setups and lots of VW, audi, p-car stuff.
An AEB would be around 250-400 for the head as core. 1700-2100+ for parts, st & cats or Ferrea and cats, then who knows how much for machine work and p&p. at that point I would have exceeded the price I got the head for, buy alot.
saw this in person today, sad to see what those faggots did to it. I wish you luck and :thumbup for a clean ass dub…wish mine was the same
I told you man, when I get this thing rolling and have some time… I am all in to lend you a hand on your gti. Your a good egg, and I owe you one I feel for busting your balls when the shit hit the fan last month. :thumbup
the solid lifter head from QEDpower is 4600$. thats CNC ported, and the full solid lifter setup. truely overkill. just keep it adjusted correctly and you should be good. i just hope i dont see it take the bottom end out if you plan to spin 9200+
stock casting(unported), upgraded valve, CAT cam’d AEBs have made 700hp.
soooo why are there no pics or progress…
Yea this is worse than my build thread.
Overkill is better, when you have will power to hold back a little! I only plan on reving it to 8500 or so. No need to chance it. I figure that 6262 will spool around low 4k, so that will give me 4K or so worth of usable power band. with this head and a 6262, 500whp should be cake.
Will have some after Sat. I am going to ASS in the AM and will get the motor out, on a stand. drain the rest of the fluids from it and take it back down to the block.
The dash will be out and heater core out, then tidey up the wiring left over and get it preped for starting on the cage. Get the rest of the back glass out and preped for lexan.
I will snap some pics of the back doors. I have them stripped and tonight I will work on getting the crash beam, boat ancor, out of them. Just removing the glass, window crank shit, and inner door they dropped about 10lbs each. My idea is to have just the minimum to hold some lexan in place (riveted and reuse the oem outside rubber seal for looks), and a simple bike cable and a little nub to grab inside the car to relase the latch. then trim out as much steel as possible to basically leave just the skin and outer shell in place. same for the front, just with a more user friendly handle.
I need my camera back from last night then, hurry up and upload the pics to red-tube!
Where are you getting the Lexan from?
are you gutting the doors and then re-skinning them smooth so it looks half way decent?
also if you ever want just give me a call and i can come take pics and put them up for ya, cause i know you and your brother suck at updates and pics lmao :hug
yeah the inside will just get a simple thin plate of aluminum or some lexan sprayed the platinum gray color the car is on the inside, so the outside part you see will be glossy and sratch resistant. Just like you paint an RC car body.
Ohh and give me a call tomorrow am, see what your doing, if your not busy u can pop on over to albany speed and snap some pics and what not.
I forget what darryl said, but its a place local in albany he knows. Why do you have a contact for some?
I don’t have a contact for Lexan, but might be interested in some in the future.
i got shit to do most of the day tomorrow, but i might be able to stop by either mid day or sometime in the afternoon (afternoon if you wanna see some CP :thumbup ) but ill holla’ at ya fo’ sho’
In for CP!!! tell her if she comes, she’s going to stand in the engine bay of my car (after I pull the motor) and we are going to snap a pic. Clothes optional.
