Drew…This is crazy man. Jose was a good friend of mine and I’m speechless.
Living right by the 290 I hear bikes rip by all the time. God bless their families.
This is devastating!!!
But why would someone drive 100+ mph (if true from article) on the highway? Doesn’t make sense to me especially when there is traffic. All it takes is one stupid mistake to cost a life (in this case, multiple)
Very sad news. My condolences.
I heard bits and pieces so far of the story…its sad and maybe stupidity also.
Its easier then you think to be doing those speeds on a bike
RIP very very sad to hear this.
It might be easy but it’s not rational. Speeding at 100(+) is illegal, stupid, and places harm on all surrounding individuals/groups.
Another stupid thing is posting a pic a day before of your rim cracked and doing 100mph.
I highly recommend anyone with a motorcycle check into doing track days to get their speed fix instead of doing it on the 290. Same holds true for the car guys, take it to the track, not highly congested public streets.
Sad news…You just can’t be doing those kinda speeds
RIP, condolences to those of you that knew them. Honor their memory by thinking about them when you’re about to take chances and dial it back instead.
WHAT? Seriously?
A day? An hour before the crash. The mighty sign in in the background.
So sad. Jose was always a blast to be around, and rich was a fine person, with about the sweetest family. I’ll be thinking of them…
"Amherst Police Captain Patrick McKenna said, “Preliminary reports, these motorcycles, apparently there were six of them and they were traveling at a high rate of speed. I have no idea how the two of them ended up on the ground, I know that one of them was run over by a tractor trailer after he fell off the bike.”
new 4 says there were six of them not four, and one person was run over. very sad.
This sucks.
RIP and thoughts go out.
As for people riding and thinking they are untouchable. I was driving the 990 getting on the 290 when a pack of 8 bikes came rolling up behind me at the blvd. Each one decided to get on it right next to my car in the thought of giving me an earful. After that, they proceeded to hit up to 100+ mph. After getting caught up and me meeting them again at the Grand Island bridge. I ended up infront of them. We got to a point on Grand Island where their was two semi trucks in the right lane, and a row of cars in the left…(me being one infront of them) I noticed they didnt want anything to do with sitting behind us at 70mph in a 65mph zone. seeing this, I did not want to cause an accident and decided to hug the shoulder. As soon as I did, all 8 bikes split the traffic again semis on right, cars on left.
Your life is not worth messing around on a bike to which either you can hurt yourself or others around you. Being that your pulling a stupid move like that, a semi on the side of you is definitely not the place to be pulling that off.
Please think before you get on your bike and ride it around. It may be one thing for you to get injured which no one wants, but also the injuries you can cause around you to which it impacts more than just yourself, but your friends, family and family of those also hurt.
again, sad to hear.
Fine I’ll say it:
That’s why you don’t fucking ride at night you fucking fucks. And you don’t do 100 MPH if you do. And if you know you have damaged equipment you limp the fuck home. Sounds like these were good people and I’m not saying by any means that they deserved this, but for fucks sake recognize the chain of bad decisions that led to this and learn from it while you still can.
Everyone hates to see threads like this but they make you sober up REAL quick. The summer has just started guys; keep this in the back of your minds and stay safe.
RIP.
I reluctantly agree.
Regardless, it’s still an immense tradgedy. My thoughts go out to their friends and family. I did not get to know any of them personally, but RIP.
